Here are some ideas that I feel need to be implemented to keep the end game viable and fun.
1. Make a Dungeon finder or something that helps bring people together for dungeons and what not. It’s amazing that people will argue they don’t need one but then are going to a third party web site and using one. This seems silly as an argument. Just put one in the game.
2. Make Ascended quality gear universal across the end game content. pvp, wvw, dungeons, ect. There is no reason why I should have to only go to fractals if I want the best in game gear. It doesn’t have to have agony on it, but it shoud be just as good. Get people playing everything again, fractals were terrible at pigeon-holeing everyone into one spot.
3. Dungeons need to drop a universal dungeon badge that can be used for any of the dungeon gear available not just for that one type of armor because it is causing everyone to run the same dungeon over and over again instead of playing all the dungeons such as CoF. If you could run all the dungeons and still get your CoF gear, it would be very much more enjoyable and feel less like a grind.
4. Dungeons should drop an exotic or something rewarding by killing end game bosses. Make the trinkets and necklaces come off certain bosses in the game. That way people will want to play more of the content instead of the same tunnel every time cause its the badge, gravy-train.
5. Make majority of trash mobs in dungeons, non-passable and more rewarding to kill.
6. Make End game areas such as Orr have less little events that segregate everyone and more epic, 40 man world events that draw everyone to it. End game needs to feel different than leveling. The run here gravy-train, run there gravy-train, karma grind is annoying. Create better ways to bring people together with bigger, more epic events and story lines, not these chopped up small karma grinds.
7. Get rid of the “fight to survive” mechanic or change it to something more enjoyable. I really hate it. Maybe I’m alone in this, but It is very annoying to be sitting there doing nothing while you wait to be rezzed for 20 min knowing that you could run back in half the time. What a waste. Also why would anyone want to rez you when you could run back in the same amount of time and they could continue to DPS and also they usually die trying to rez you cause they pull aggro and get one-shotted. It’s a silly mechanic and not enjoyable for anyone. A battle rez idea would be much better where you could rez people without taking so much time and continue doing what you do.
8. Add mounts and less way points. I like way points in major cities or points of interests, just not every 2 feet like it is now. And I love mounts and collecting mounts. Keep way points in key spots but get rid of the rest and add ground mounts.
9. Put preview on the auction house. Seriously, I need to see what I’m buying.

Dungeon Finder; ascended gear more widely available: YES. PLEASE.

Universal dungeon tokens: Eeeehhhhh, I get what your goal is, but I fear that the result would actually have the opposite effect you intended. People would quickly figure out what the “easiest” dungeon is, and just farm that one over and over again.

Fight to survive: I like it the way it is. Having to decide whether to how/when to rally, and whether you can safely help a downed ally, is all part of the challenge. Yes, sometimes people are too lazy to run back. Yes, sometimes people get downed themselves just trying to rez others. That’s their fault.

Mounts: Nope, sorry. I understand the feeling like we don’t have this cool ride to zoom around on and show off, but the convenience afforded by waypoints vastly outshines that in my opinion.

Preview on Trading Post: Yeah, I’m surprised they don’t already have it. I believe it’s coming, though. Also, they really need to let us browse according to light/medium/heavy armour types.

Yes to Dungeon Finder.

Yes to Alternative Ascended Gear sources.

No to Dungeon badges. That just sounds stupid; maybe a way to exchange tokens, but never something that completely ejects the current system.

No to dungeons dropping exotics as a reward. That’s what crafting, dungeon tokens, and karma vendors are for – Exotics are suppose to be more difficult to earn then a single dungeon-clear.

No to making trash-mobs more difficult. Trash mobs will always be trash mobs. There needs to be contrast between the toughness of bosses vs toughness of adds/random mobs. What they need to do is make it so you can’t skip certain dungeon events, so that players stop skipping over for efficiency.

Orr – The problem with Orr is that events contest waypoints, and force would-be defenders to walk to the events, which sucks.
No one likes walking when waypoints have been installed everywhere to make travel easier. They need to add pre-events that must be failed before events that contest waypoints start, so that players have a chance to get there and stop waypoints from being taken.

Yes to improving the Downed mechanic. I’m enjoying it but it can be better. Maybe give us the ability to crawl so we don’t feel entirely helpless.

No to mounts. Waypoints are AWESOME, and they work to control inflation in the game economy. If mounts are added, they should only be added by players who have completed 100% exploration AND make mounts nothing like what WoW has.
Mounts should not be collectibles. They should require feeding (maybe through food) and be restricted to having one out at any time, as well as your account being restricted to owning a certain number – Like 5, which are kept in a stable (like a bank for mounts).
I never liked the idea of summoning pets willy-nilly like WoW or other games.

Hell yes to previewing in trading post.

Yes to Dungeon finder as long as it doesn’t make the group for you: should work like a global window like gw2lfg, where you can see who’s looking for what and invite through there. Not like: i wanna join a party button and he creates the group for you. thats just silly.

Yes to alternative ascended gear. They’re working on it I think…

Dungeon badges… I am afraid exactly that would happen, people just farm the same one over n over again. Also, I’m not quite sure it’s at all needed… also, would completely obsolete Arah

Btw, Arah needs to be rebalanced, getting AC weps is stupidly more easy than Arah ones…

Trash mobs… I’m kinda split there. For them to force us to kill them would mean upping the rewards ALOT, cause people usually run the dungeon mostly for the 60 tokens at the end. So … you’d have to specify further what kind of changes you want to the mobs :P Like statistics.

Orr needs reworking

Downed mechanic is fine for classes that can move with skill 2, like ele. For others it’s just plain dull. Let us move around and it’s great.

Definite no to mounts. Maybe a mountable “minipet” just for show/looks, but nothing practical. Ever. The game was sized to not need mounts and it is rightly so.

The only thing that is need is a proper Dungeon Finder, not some “improved” LFG tool.
The one that lets you queue up for a group and then you can just go around exploring and meeting new people.

8. Yes to adding mounts and less way points. This is simple. Why are there transport vehicles all over Tyria if we cannot use them ourselves? Ridiculous. A good example will be the Black Citadel where these giant mechanical vehicles are standing collecting dust. And people use mounts because they are either lazy or have problem with time so I vote yes to mounts. GROUND MOUNTS for now. Cannot believe people still arguing about not implementing mounts. The game need realism. And a game where everyone are walking isn’t a game that I will play for long. (Not that it will effect your own opinions).

Same reason why Packer Dolyaks can’t be sent to waypoints and require escorts.

Way-Points are a single-passenger form of transporation.
Battle vehicles cannot be sent to way-points, and building an asura gate is not feasible on the battle field or out in various regions of the world. Way-Points are way better for the average adventurer.

If you want realism, ask for proper mounts

Ask for Mounts you cannot collect and summon any time you wish.
- Mounts you must feed to keep healthy
- Mounts that can be killed
- Mounts you must store at a farm/stable, where you must pay to use a stall
- Mounts that actually require maintenance so that people aren’t riding them anywhere and everywhere – They actually have to decide whether or not it’s better to walk or use a waypoint

But no one really wants that. You just want animals you can take for granted and summon whenever you please.

If you want that, go play WoW. They’ll be happy to provide you with an assortment of immortal pets that seem to live between here and no-where without any sustenance.

No to WoW, yes to GW2. I don’t think the “40 man” was a slip of the tongue, you just want to play another game. This is not WoW for free and you’re not making it.

A nice troll post though, you start out and end with things everyone wants and needs, and in the middle you add stuff no one wants. People skimming your post would be inclined to vote it up however most of your suggestions would be detrimental to the game.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

1. Make a Dungeon finder

This is not needed. Instead they must make sure to reward players running multiple dungeons, that way the population will spread and people can do all dungeons instead of farming one-two of them. If they add a dungeon finder then the areas around dungeons, even LA, will die. Everyone will just be afk and wait for the click tone on the dungeon finder to find a group, that’s not healthy for those zones, I think that was the reason they didn’t add a Dungeon finder in the game.
So, no Dungeon finder, but a lot more incentive for doing multiple dungeons.

2. Make Ascended quality gear universal across the end game content. pvp, wvw, dungeons, ect.

February update will bring Ascended gear to WvW, I’m not sure when it comes to Pve and dungeons yet but it should be coming soon. Don’t worry about this one just have some patience.

3. Dungeons need to drop a universal dungeon badge

Do you know why people farm CoF path 1/2 all day? Because it’s easy, not because they like the armor/skin (ok they might like it but not all of them). If they make a universal dungeon badge as you propose all other dungeons/paths will die and people will only run CoF p1, Se p3 etc to get the easy tokens. As I said on #1 what is needed is incentive to do multipel dungeons/paths instead of farming a single one, no nerfs to current paths, just reward variety!

4. Dungeons should drop an exotic or something rewarding by killing end game bosses.

They do but their drop chance is very very low. Boss loot is ridiculous low, but it’s better that way, as long as we have farmable paths/bosses, if they ever “fix” that, see #1 and #3 boss loot might increase 10fold

5. Make majority of trash mobs in dungeons, non-passable and more rewarding to kill.

Non passable, you mean make the mobs chase down the players without resetting (I can’t see any other option). While that is good, if they ever did something like that, trash mob difficulty would need to be adjusted. People don’t skip mobs because they are afraid they might fail/wipe, they skip because it will take a lot of time, with little fear of damage.

6. Make End game areas such as Orr have less little events that segregate everyone and more epic

What I want from Orr is making all events viable, same way as #1, reward variety, only a small minority of events are even been completed because the others “aren’t worth it”, instead of nerfing those that are worth doing, buff variety, not individual events! They certainly need some more epic feeling, some fights can be harder and more engaging, for example Temple of Grenth and Temple of Lyssa are examples of very nice events that aren’t only about dpsing a mob with a trilion hit points

7. Get rid of the “fight to survive” mechanic or change it to something more enjoyable.

I don’t get this, you can’t stay in “fight to survive” for long, you die very very quickly.

8. Add mounts and less way points.

Waypoints are better than mounts, I can’t see practical use of a mount and the devs already stated they don’t want mounts to be just speed buffs.

Most people use speed buff skill as one of their utilities.

Problem with WP is that the game is about doing dynamic events that occur around you while you travel through the world. You can’t participate in any events when you jump past them.

Ok,
Here is my take on end game. Aside from the above posts of which I only read a few.
For me end game isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be. The dungeon gear stats don’t scale up with the dungeons tier. basicly AC gear isnt really any better than Arah gear. To me, this is depressing. Effectivly there is no charactor progression available. I hate to bring the “wow” reference in but.. for almost 9 years of wow, what kept me driven was the desire to get better and better gear, stats, damage and survivability increases. I see the balance issues this would cause thus the solution I would offer is make us wear the Spvp gear in WvW as well. this way we can aquire higher level gear, skins, stats ect, ect, and it wouldn’t leave room for the guild groupies to run around and wreck the kitten crap out of everyone. Also as far as pvp goes, I would like to see 1v1 and 2v2 in arena 2013. not just 3v3 and 10v10. Perhaps specific gear skins for that as well. so people can show their glory : )

This is what I meant with realism. Implement a feature like in Battle Of The Immortals where you can grind a mount. Only difference is realism – to feed and make our pet/mount faster. Everything should be simple and not cost a fortune as un putting gas in a vehicle. As WvW siege weapons.

1G for the Goblin. 1G is easy to collect for everyone and I can see myself spend 1G on the fastest mount with a 25-50% speedbost. No mounts on TP since they will destroy the market. Account bound “Pets” to feed, take care of and ride as a reward for their appreciation. I see this coming to life. Great suggestion. And immortal pets would destroy this game.
