I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
Okay, you wouldn’t be stealing it, there are alot of games what are going this way now; if done right a player created content option is invaluable. Here you’ve got a tool to introduce a near limitless amount of new material without the devs having to make it themselves. (once all the tools are in place) It makes for a huge increase in replayability and will bring in the modding community. Heck, the only reason I play Neverwinter is for the player created content and the promise of more.
You could also do some variation on what Neverwinter does and use the cities as gateways into the player instances, and as quest givers, etc. Give people a reason to spend more time in those beautiful metropolises you built.
There’s always some danger with these things … if not done right they come off as cheep and hokey – look at City of Heroes – but they can be done right and they are a gift what just keeps on giving.
I was just talking about this with some friends of mine yesterday – being as I started playing Neverwinter on Thursday – and they all agreed that the addition of something like that would make Guild Wars 2 the single greatest MMO in the interverse. (is that a word? If not, I’m totally coining it – my word, @TM)
Yes, this is one great idea but we know that A-Net will not simply “steal” it. They have to improve it or do some changes in it of their own.
I could see it best for the further advancement of fractals than anything else.
Lets see if they will implement something similar.
This has already been suggested long before Neverwinter announced its “forge” system.
I assume that you’d gain items and XP inside the player created maps?
How do you make sure that people simply wouldn’t create grinders to farm?
I think this is a bad idea that doesn’t go well with the living world concept at all
