New Armor
You are forgetting craftable sets and any Karma set that’s not sold in Orr :P Oh, and cultural t1-t2 sets =) They’re all pretty affordable.

Right, the craftable sets are limited in number and by level. And Karma armor for low levels, well you have one choice there and have to run around and find each piece. But still, its one armor style only. The cultural sets, each race can choose between 3 but they are each for a certain level of character…and again only one style choice at each of the 3 levels.
GW1 you hit LA as a level 10 toon and have 6 choices easy to get and easy to customize. I also like having armor available in certain towns once you mapped there. And having a choice between regular and elite in those towns.
It’s also hard having only heavy, medium and light armor choices. So it limits things even further when you have a warrior and a guardian using heavy sets and only two armor choices on the trader (and yes, one of those might be craftable armor listed on the trader). And I am talking about a level 40 toon as an example.
Not everyone’s toons are level 80 and we would like more choices as we level.
I just want to see more style choices in the game instead of more elite dungeon armor because there is already plenty of those.
What about Order armors? Do they have a level requirement?

I would really like to see more armor skins in game. More cultural armor, profession based armor, etc.
Put em in the gem store and I will give you my money for them!
What they need is proffesion based armor, in 3 tiers similar to the cultural system.
I agree with the OP. ESPECIALLY leveling up. Say you got a cloth helm at level 32 or something. Then you get an upgrade a few levels down the road, lets say 39. You get all excited when you put it on, but then are extremely disappointed at how it literally doesn’t change AT ALL. I really think you guys need to put some more time into giving every piece a unique look. It is something WoW did well, and they had to juggle 4 different types of armor, not 3. I think you guys could do a better job about this. (BTW, I like GW2 alot better than WoW, just to put that out there.)
I agree on the low level part.
We desperately need cultural starter gear (even something not fancy at all and that isn’t even a complete set with gloves and shoulders). It’s really frustrating to have your sylvari intro cinematic(other races too, but sylvari are the best example) completely ruined by the fact that your character wears non-vegetal armor. It also kills me that my female norn necro has to start with that insulting mini-skirt that doesn’t blend at all with the local norn culture. The first thing I did on that character was going to the hall of monuments to get a new armor skin, it wasn’t ‘norner’ but at least it was classier.
When the game was first shown at gamescon, the starter gear for humans changed depending on their choice at the question about social origin (nobles got fancy clothes, street rats less fancy clothes). Well, having three (or more for Norn and sylvari where the equivalent of social class are cycles and spirits) different starter cultural armor for each race would clearly be too much work but it was awesome to start the game with proper immersion
