GW2 is an awsome game that has gone beyond previous mmo’s. The one major thing that I see the game lacking in comparison to new games and future games (ex; Tera, Blade and Soul) is the acutally character control and aiming. If you look at the interface of those games they lock the camera to the mouse and have a curser in the middle of the screen that allows you to aim (like a shooter) and feels more natural to control. Right now I can’t adjust my camera and click a target at the same time. Now understandably this game was designed differently and to implement directional skill control for all classes would break the game balance greatly.
Suggestion:
What I suggest is to add an option where you can have directional control like prevously explained. The curser in the middle will act just like the mouse allowing you to select a target with left click. The right click will act as another way to use evasion/dodge activating this direction you are traveling. With these controls things like using melee skills without actually selecting the target would be given more directional control.
The cameral lock will simply act as an aiming fuction for selection targets. When a skill is used lets say heartseaker that make you travel the attack should still go towards the target and not straigh forward where the curser is aiming. Might add a camera auto adjust when skills like this are used but I don’t think that would be necessary.
Another option would be to have the curser act like an auto lock with the proposed features if it is not believed to break game balance(range attacks would be harder as aiming would be required all the time).
I do not believe this would be to hard to implement as they already work with how the game is designed and would add a new dynamic to the game especially in pvp.
Any opinions and improvements please add below. I repeat I would just love to have this option, but still keep the controls how they are now as default
