Currently, the cost to buy it would equate to 55k+ uses needed to be worth the invesment. This means that buying the 800 gems in gold would be like buying 550 Ori picks, and at 3 clicks per node that’s 18k nodes farmed.

Not worth it unless you allow us to swap between characters, and assurance that when / if you add a new tier of mining in expansions that this pick will be upgraded to work with them as well.

They don’t want you to buy with gold. The gems to real money does not fluctuate. So they hope more ppl will buy with real currency now that gemprices are becoming outrageous.

Even so, 800 gems with real money isn’t worth it for the item to be soul bound.

You’re seeing it wrong though. You are not paying for 550 Orichalcum picks. You are paying for the convenience to never having to buy a pick again. This convenience is already there after the first 100 uses, i.e. when you would have to buy another pick.

Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is probably not worth it for most people. But yes, there will be still people who will appreciate this offer as they will never have to buy another pick again.

I’m actually also on the mind that this should be account bound. And that’s because i don’t think you can dig faster with 2 characters than with single one(the time you play is the same after all). But if it stays soulbound then it should stay in the gem store permanently. Everything so far is account bound(directly or not), this item shouldn’t be exception.

I believe the reason it is soulbound is to deter people from endlessly farming orichalcum on all of their characters.
