What we have Now
Group Events; Big Champion Mob, Kite for a few minutes, get a green usually.
solo/Scale-able Events; Common Veteran Mob, Spank him for a minute, get a green usually.
What we could have In Addition
Solo/Scale-able Events; Unique Named Mob, of Difficulty between Champ and Vet, for a Hyrbid Battle experience! (More on drops later)
:o But that means Anet would have to draw another Face Picture Border! :o
Q:“Whats Different with this Unique Named Mob?”
A: The Functionality of it.
-Explanation; Like the Guild Bounty NPC’s, these Mobs will be roaming a map, on a seemingly random path.
-Respawn; They’d respawn on a random timer of anywhere between 10-45 minutes. (Combine it with the roaming, and that sounds fun! and unpredictable! The intension!)
-Drops; Crafting Materials for the most part, However at a low chance they’ll drop a Unique Item Skin (5% Chance on the high end).
-Skin Explanation; These Skins would be designed to fit the style of the mob. (more on this below). Would also probably be Account Bound (makes it more “Hey look what I achieved” rather than “Hey look what I bought!”)
Side note1; Drops will function like a chest! (As in no Magic Find, not give crappy loot all the time, sorry anet but they do!! <3)
Side note2; It would be very cool to also add in Unique Skins that are Gloves and Helmets like in GW1, where they could go on any armor type, whether it was a heavy/light/medium armor type.
Example Scenario
You deside to help out a new friend who just started playing GW2.
He’s a norn and you’re both in the Wayfarer Foothills.
You head south, because thats the content he’s most suited for is at.
In the distance you notice an oddly colored Minotaur. “Angry Angrus”
You, having played this game before understand what that could mean, and you warn your friend that is a Unique Mob!
Together you both charge and engage it in combat.
At this time the game realizes this, and takes note you’re in a level 5 zone. So the mob becomes level 5, and his Boss Skull Icon shines up on the Mini-Map for more nearby players to come quickly.
All in all, you and your friend end up defeating the minotaur with and with success your friend gets a rare unique skin drop!
He pings it in Map chat so everyone can see “Angrus Horn” A Dagger Skin! (account bound)
You on the other hand did not get it, however you got a really cool Obsidian Core, and a Potent Blood. (You’re level 80)
(The purpose of these Unique Items being Skins rather than gear themselves, is to still let characters of higher level enjoy lower level content)
Closing Statement
I know GW2 is a Casual Player’s Game.
I know GW2 is a “Everyone Help Everyone!” Game.
However I feel Vets and Champs do serve a good challenge for some decent/standard loot.
And I do feel that Dungeons are fun with teams, and all that is great content.
And I LOVE the fractals of the mists, mini dungeon series. (Awesome rewards!)
However I truly do feel this game does lack some more general PvE content that will provide chances at cool/good loot.
