Guild Wars 2

Even though Guildwars 2 has only been out for a few months, lately I’ve been thinking to myself. If an expansion was ever added, would they add a new race, and if so, what would it be? Then I started thinking about Shinnies!

Anyways, Skritt as a playable race.
Some of their Race Utilities could be something along the lines of:
1. +1% to Magic Find (cause Skritt are always searching for shinnies!)

2. Burrow: Like stealth, but may last longer, though the character cant move (cause digging for shinnies is fun!)

3. Summon friends: Summons 2 other Skritt (maybe a lobber or one of the turret placing ones) cause even though you have to split your shinnies with friends, sometimes you need help carrying it!

4. Rummage: Create and use one of the many random “garbage” weapons you can find ie: broken bottle, shovel, hammer, etc the difference is the effects/damage would scale with stats (cause sometimes you need to use shinnies to get more shinnies!)

Storywise, I picture the Skritt as bungling heroes, much like Peter Sellers in the old Pink Panther movies, inadvertently saving the day through clumsiness and slapstick.
Maybe a great evil monster derives its power from a (shiny!) magic orb? The Skritt would accidentally foil the monsters plan when they acquire the orb and smash it (because why have one shiny when you can have many?!)
The Skritt would band together with the Asura, Charr, Sylvari, Norn, and Humans to face the dragons (cause dragon scales are shiny!)

GW2 already has tonnes of Skritt models, colors, and a few with different armor models, so some of the work is already in there. I think it’d be a nice break from all the doom and gloom of fighting ravenous, world destroying dragons and take on the form of a shiny obsessed ADHD Rat Race.

I like this idea, I would love to play as a skritt, especially with all the skritt jokes already in game.

I still prefer Tengu, and Largos. Over Skritts..

True, they are idiots, but isnt that what makes them unique? They’re not there to save the world or anything, they’re just there to find a shiny bottle cap, even if it means crossing an ocean of lava. If by chance that they happen to save the day, so much the better for the other races.

Personally, I feel that it’d differentiate them a lot from the other races. It’d at least give the story writers something to do, rather than after a while all the races becoming almost exactly the same in goal. The Skritt (Or hell, even the Tengu, Largos, Quaggan, and all the other side races) seem to have much more interesting lore/personalities than the currently available player races.

Are you aware what ‘shinny’ or ‘shinnies’ sounds like spoken? I can’t tell if you’re doing it on purpose or not…

Dont think the mf buff uttilty would be a good idea tbh, too many ppl would play skritt just for that skill ALONE i bet, the others ones are ncie idea though, would love to play a skritt myself too
