New Ranger Passive: Spirit Surge
I would like something like this, being able to get rid of your pet in exchange for a bit of power and/or utility to make up for the loss. Having pets is fun and has its place but its not fun to be forced to work with it when building your character.
./agree
Please create something similar to this that allows a ranger to be a proficient bowmen and not require a pet, even if it means removal of some of the hand to hand options (which arent befitting of a ranger anyway).
Definitely agree. Even if it was just a trait that gave you stat bonuses when your pet was dead, there needs to be a playstyle for ranger that has focused DPS that doesn’t rely on AI. Which means there needs to be some kind of no-pet mechanic.
As a ranger I sometimes hate when my pet gets in the way, but changing the mechanic to allow players to effectively changes their class mechanic in a big way, to me is a no. My suggestion would be to buff or change rangers in a different way and not remove the pet entirely I love having my pets…
I don’t think pets should be removed; the class was designed around them as our resource mechanic. If you remove them and just give us a straight up buff, then other classes that rely on their resources would complain…
What they need to do is make it so that rangers and their pets work together more;
*Gaining buffs on pet swaps are good things
*Major traits for different buffs that increase throughout the duration of a battle as long as your pet is alive (if the battle ends or you or your pet dies, it resets)
*Gaining buffs for when a condition is made (if it’s the pet, then the ranger gets a buff; if the player applies a condition, then the pet gets some sort of buff)
*etc.
Things that should NOT be part of the ranger pets and are horrible synergies:
*Condition dumping on pets (this was a dumb idea; why the heck are we sacrificing our pets? Shouldn’t we NOT be abusing them?)
What they should have done with the condition dump is, instead of just dumping the conditions, have the pet and player work together more; if the player takes on a condition, the pet responds by actually doing something (maybe varying depending on the pet you have equipped: aggroing to and knocking down the opponent for a second that caused the condition, casting an emergency AOE heal/regen, etc.).
We just need more player/pet synergy overall; not just one or the other or sacrificing the pet.
Another thing that would be neat to at least play with is a light heal the pet can cast on itself, and give them some sort of battle awareness so that they can avoid at least some attacks; why they are programmed to just stand there and take it like a punching bag I have no idea, but I do hope that changes.
