New Soldier Profession
I actually really like this idea. I think adding a class like that would make the game very unique, with a new set of traits and weapons introduced. But a throwing spear while very cool in concept would be hard to incorporate into a game but it maybe easier than I think. Also we need Stone Dwarfs…..like right away.
I like the idea, a new class would be a breath of fresh air. A new heavy armor class would be extremely helpful in dungeons and other PVE activitys. Cur Mac I think that Tengu would be a better race to add. Stone Dwarves are not very lore friendly because their are so few of them left. I would love to see the Tengu…
As I can understand in the Lore is that the Stone Dwarves are keeping Primordus at bay. If (or more like when) he escapes, we might see the Deldrimor Front, the Ring of Fire islands and the Dwarves.
- As for OP’s idea, I like it. I think adding more variation with more weapons and a whole new profession is due when the first expansion hits the game.
- I haven’t really decided whether or not I like the name of Captain, though I can see your reasons for wanting that name to a profession with those skills.
Other than that, you have my like.
First thing to do: Balance Classes
Second thing: Bring more utilities und build-variation.
Third thing: Add new Classes.

A new class likely won’t happen until the first game expansion, and hopefully by the time they even start talking about an expansion… Those first two things will be fixed (plus some major bugs).
I would love a Paragon-related class to be added. I was just thinking the other day that we do need one more heavy armor class, and I think this is a great suggestion.

Are you aware of the Title “Champion-Paragon / Paragon”?
It’s a PvP-Title for Guardians. As in my eyes guardians are allready a mixture of Monks and Paragons, this won’t likely to happen.
I think that a Farmer class would also be cool. It would wear town clothes and it would wield a new weapon type a pitchfork. Some skills it could summon various farm animals and throw vegetables. An elite skill could be summon tractor and it would decrease your speed by 25% when riding the tractor. It would make you look more bad —- when riding on it. I also think you should be able to play country music on command.
I think the idea of another heavy armor class is good, and it’s probably likely to balance out 3 of each time. Unfortunately, I think the shout skill-type is already heavily used by Warriors and Guardians, so I don’t know that having the third heavy class use shouts would be terribly interesting.
If the class had something akin to the Ritualist’s Spirit Weapon spells (not like the Guardian’s, these might be closer to the Ele’s conjured weapons), bundles, and the Spirits themselves as ranged options, I could see that class being very very popular.

Diggin the farmer class
I feel like the “Captain” and “Paragon” themes are already baked into the Warrior and Guardian class, respectively.
In light of that, I think the best candidate for a 3rd Soldier class would be a Sorcerer/Mage Knight type class that used arcane magic to bolster their fighting prowess.
Check the behind-the-scenes thing on the official site for Guardians.
Guardians are paragon/monk/ritualists.
They are the commander, supportive class already.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Guardian is new Paragon, look through PvP achievements and you’ll see
What about a druid ? I miss my druid from diablo 2 and World of Warcraft.
How about the commando class from 2012’s april’s fool day?
Based on what’s existing, they can use…
Armor type: Heavy
Weapons: Rifle. Pistols, Riot shield, harpoon, daggers and the Charzooka.
Skill Type: Ranged support and mob control.
Actually I’m not really am being serious, implementing this might overshadow the engineer.
A beserker type warrior with modified Dervish skills does come into mind, then hopefully, Great Axes, Spears (terrestrial not aquatic) and Scythes would be available.
