New WEAPONS suggestions for next expansion?
I don’t know how it could be implemented, but it would be great if there were polearms, fist weapons/gauntlets, and whips. The only reason I mention whips is because elementalists already have a flashy lightning whip, and the Nightmare Court uses whips sometimes. Again, not sure how it could be implemented and for what professions, but since it’s already built into the game…
We need dragonslayer swords.

I don’t understand why we didn’t have those epic gargantuan weaponry to begin with. It’d be perfect for the Warrior to really show off how much more ‘frontline’ their class is.
Here’s a random skill set I made up on the spot.
Skill 1 – Slash: Slash in front of you.
- Skill 1b – Cleave: Follow up your slash with a forceful swing, dealing damage and applying bleeding and vulnerability to struck units.
Skill 2 – Swing Approach: Swing your sword, using the centrifugal force to rush toward your target and deal damage where you land
Skill 3 – Counter: Position to block attacks with your massive blade. If an attack is blocked, this skill becomes ‘Counter-Thrust’
- Counter-Thrust (single-target skill): Continue blocking that target for 1 second; thrust your sword at your foe, dealing damage and crippling your target.
Skill 4 – Execution Swing: Raise your sword over your shoulder and slash vertically at your foe, dealing more damage for bleeding and vulnerability stacks. In addition, this applies several bleeding and vulnerability stacks.
Skill 5 – Blood-Soaked Blade: When you slay a foe, gain might and fury. (Stacks up to 10; ends when out of combat or downed)
- Channel -> Knock back foes, and gain stability for 8 seconds.
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~

I think that giving a Tarot deck to Mesmers would be cool. Maybe have a few different types of focuses (foci?) such as a mirror, crytal ball and a large rose like in GW1.
As for the OP’s suggestions:
- Scythe is necro-territory. No good concept-wise. (and yes, concept-perspective IS important)
- Kusarigama is basically a “Chain and Scythe”. Call it that for clarity to English-speakers.
- Trap Kit is pseudo-engineer and theif territory. No good concept-wise
- Throwing Knives is basically what ANet’s done with off-hand Daggers. Sorry if it doesn’t suit you.
- Ballistas. Do you even know what a ballista is? I’m hoping you mixed this up with Crossbows.
- Ballistas are already in the game: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ballista
- Spears are already in the game for underwater combat. ANet will definitely not create an overlap in terminology.
- Tower Shields is the only decent suggest. I would very much like to see Tower Shields offer Guardians more aggressive defense plays with a skill like…
- Shield Bash: Block attacks from the target for 1 second, then strike them with your shield, dealing damage and stunning them.
- Crossbows (?), this game could totally use crossbows, but how to make them not overlap with Longbows and Shortbows is a serious issue.

So, you just want a great variety of “focus” objects? This thread’s about actual new types of equipment that would offer different skills then what’s offered now.
Cards isn’t really a standard weapon on its own (only niche individuals like Gambit from X-men or Twisted Fate from LoL can actually use them). Focuses technically already push the boundaries on what’s “standard”, with the only reason being that magic exists in-game.

I’d like to see Chakrams.
You can throw them like boomerangs.
Use em like a yo-yo. Walk the dog style.
Or use them as parrying/deflecting tools.
Chakrams are fun for characters of all ages and hair styles.
Please fix the existing “weapons” (And by that I mean Engineer kits) first before thinking about new stuff.
There are plenty of weapon types they dont employ in the game that would be cool.

Kusarigama, maybe ok. supposedly is a weapon for ninjas but maybe thieves are like ninjas so ok i guess.

no kits. kits are engineers only.
throwing knives? just make dagger able to be equipped in main hand for ranger.

- Tower Shield (with different mechanics from the normal shield)
spears are underwater weapons. so, no.
try 2 handed pole arms.
tower shield seems good.
guardians need a better ranged weapon.

Double Bladed “Swallow” (Two-Handed) – AOE/Condition
Ranger
Crossbow (One-Handed/Off-Hand) – Ranged/Damage/Control
Great Axe (Two-Handed) – Melee/Damage
Engineer
Buzzsaw Kit – Melee/AOE
Arm Cannon Kit – Ranged/Burst/Condition
Mesmer
Whips (Off-Hand) – Control/Support
Quarterstaff (Two-Handed) – Melee/DPS

I don’t understand why people talk about EXPANSIONS at all. The ORIGINAL game is not nearly finished, and I should spend money on expansions? Wth?
I don’t intend to spend a DIME on anything ANet offers unless/until they finish what they started and what I already spent money on. I don’t mean just bug fixes, make the game actually worth playing. Inject some quality into your product before considering expansions. :P
Whip, Sai, bo staff, kama, nunchaku, chain Mace, Axe 2 hands, Halberds, Scythes, Cross Bow. Orbs magic, magic tomes and more … XD

Yeah, sorry… I did meant crossbows not ballistas my bad :P As for spears, what I meant where throwing spears like the ones paragons had on GW1, polearms would be cool too.
I know they still have a lot of work to do before they release or say something about an expansion but I think it’s nice to give out ideas of what players would like to see in the future so the guys at Arenanet know what the players might like once they decide on a new expansion.

The only original weapon I’ve read on this thread so far is warrior wielding ballista.
My 2 cents: we have Bow shooting rainbows, why not add something like Charrzooka shooting cats?
Rather than adding weapons, I would love to see some of the current weapons tailored for classes that currently can’t use them. Some examples:
Warrior: Staff w/ a bo staff martial style
Ranger: Rifle w/ sniping skills
Mesmer: Daggers similar to Gambit’s deck of cards
Thief: Warhorn w/ mid-range buffs
