I love the idea of different classes having access to specific weapons. It works well, is quite thematic, and the current variety is great.

But I want more! I’d love to see classes gain new weapon proficiencies, probably via a big update. There’s a necromancer charr NPC in the story that dual-wields swords. Why shouldn’t necros? Maybe elementalists could use swords or shields? Maybe even a pistol or rifle and fire, I dunno, magic bullets? I’m really just throwing stuff out there.

My point is that, while a TON of character concepts are playable and enjoyable, there are some that aren’t quite filled. For example, if I want a sword/shield wielding wizard, Guardian CAN work, but it feels more like a Paladin than a mage. How about a Staff-wielding Ranger, one of the most popular builds in GW1 (Trap Masters), or maybe even a Focus-wielding Thief with some magical tricks up his sleeve? Or how about a Hammer-wielding… well, I really don’t know, but still, it’d be pretty sweet.

My point is, there are options available that still need to be explored, and I think they should be.

I’d love to play a hammer wielding engineer or a thief acrobat using a staff.
Hopefully in time we will see new weapon combinations, but they need to fix the current ones that don’t work first (Flanking Strike I’m looking at you)
