Here are some ideas:

Daily waypoint discoverer: Discover 5 new waypoints
Daily vista viewer: View 3 new vistas
Daily POI discoverer: Find 8 new POIs
Daily heart completer: Complete 3 new hearts.

I think these would help encourage discovering a few more areas less trodden. What do you think?

And you just punished anyone who has completed 100% of the map.

Dailies have to be something that any player can accomplish. engy or ele, 1 or 80, ritch or poor, map completed or not.

I don’t see it as punishment, since I have a 100% map completion but I also have several other level 80’s that don’t. Additionally, selections would be randomly pooled alongside the other daily achievments, so if you don’t want to do “daily waypoint discoverer,” you could just do “daily crafter” or “daily Ascalonian veteran killer” or whatever else pops up.

Right now ALL of the options for dailies can be done by any character regardless of level or exploration amount. And to me that’s how it should stay.

This would put in some that would punish the people who have all of the following:

1. All character slots filled
2. All characters have all exploration done or done to the point where they couldn’t get enough waypoints or POI’s.

They would have to either delete a character or purchase a new character slot. Something they may not want to do or may not have the ability to in the case of getting a new slot.

And at some point there will be a fair number of people who fit that bill. Especially if this WAS a daily.

The whole point of the daily achievement category is to get people to explore more of the world. Having multiple characters with 100% map completion is an extremely tiny portion of the playerbase. Even when you consider this subset of players, they still have the option of completing any of the other 9 daily categories.

Additionally, it is incorrect to say that “ALL of the options for dailies can be done by any character regardless of level or exploration amount” or “Dailies have to be something that any player can accomplish. engy or ele, 1 or 80, ritch or poor, map completed or not.” The “Daily personal story completer” cannot be done by someone who has finished their personal story.

The “Daily personal story completer” cannot be done by someone who has finished their personal story.

You actually can complete this by joining someone else on their story.

I have all 6 Characters of mine sitting on 100% World Completion & I make it a point to do all 9 Daily Categories every single day. Seeing something like this would break my little heart…

This is a horrible idea. It’s unattainable for players whose characters have 100% map completion.

I get that you might not be able to fulfill this category in some circumstances, but the subset of players who have 100% map completion on every single one of their characters is an extremely, extremely small portion of the player base. I think the benefit outweighs the cost quite substantially.

Contrary to what everyone else here thinks and says, this can actually work despite you already having 100% world completion. Some of the daily/monthly objectives are to discover and another is to complete jumping puzzles. Despite me already having discovered and finished all of them, I can still both discover and complete them again (with the same character) and the system gives me credit for doing it again, no new character is needed, so really I don’t see why this wouldn’t work with POIs and Vistas. The objectives could be to view 5 Vistas, and Vistas can be viewed again despite already having unlocked them and viewed them. The hearts on the other hand won’t fit well into this, but vistas would be a great addition.

  • Daily Diver – Dive from 3 different locations
  • Daily Delver – Tap 3 different Rich resource nodes (based on the assumption that Rich nodes are usually hidden in out-of-the-way locations)
  • Daily Opportunist – Recover and use 5 different environmental weapons (e.g. Oakheart branch, Elixir of Heroes, Unexploded Mortar Shell, etc – Warrior banners and Engineer bundles wouldn’t count)

Right now yes, it’s a small percentage of players. But that percent will grow over time.

Now if they did it like they do the Mists thing with how it’s always there. If one of the options was: Discover X new Y’s, where X is a number and a Y is PoI, Vista, Waypoint, etc, then I’d be fine. That way there’s always something to promote world exploration but it won’t anger the few who would feel punished if too many of the daily options landed on world exploration items.
