it would be a great thing if the whole storyline would be completely reworked from the scratch. A-net could use 20% of the monthly profit to invest in a totally new storyline which will feel more epic.

There are a few guidelines I would consider

- movie-like cutscenes = invest in making cuscenes worth watching and not only based of passing information about what will happen next or what has just happened. For example, the personal story openings were “painterly-action” in my opinion

- the character should be faced with choices very often even if these different answers are developing its personality and not necessarily the course of actions (Mass Effect, swtor style)
Do not use the “ferocity”, “dignity” and “charm” icons in front of the answers. let people actually read their answer choices not just click the respective icon. I know, people don’t read, so you can randomize the position on answers in a way that “ferocity” should not always be the first answer

- the storyline should be vast and long enough to offer the necessary amount of experience so a new character could only focus on it without auxiliary grind of events = this will transform the storyline in a way for leveling to max level making it more appealing, but also it can continue for long even after the max level has been reached similar to GW1 (doing prophecies to level and then faction, nightfall, eotn with a max level character)

It is not important how long it will take you to do this re-work of the personal storyline- 1 year, 2 years, more, but… in the end when all will be done, you will update the game and remove all the existing storylines from the game for all characters and just keep the original choices for each of them.

A mail to all GW2 accounts could be as following:

“Dear players, we have re-worked all the personal storylines and we invite you to discover what we have worked on so hard for the past [x] years.
We have removed all the progression you have currently for your characters’ storylines but we have kept all the achievements you have got from them so far.
It is time for you to experience a new storyline and also, each character who has previously completed the Storyline, will get the following bonuses [x,y,z]”

Note:
- The new reworked storyline may also include travels to the new zones which might be added to the game through the Living Story content during these production years.
- The new storyline will offer experience and rewards accordingly to the character’s level which makes it appealing to be done with a level 80 character.

I like your ideas, but would go so far as to suggest that rather than replacing the existing storyline, the devs could just add an alternate storyline. This way the original storyline is still playable, and so all the work that was done isn’t just discarded and invalidated by the presence of an alternate story mode. I would further suggest that there be side story quests that are unique to each race with other side stories that are unique to character class. i.e. Side stories that can only be completed by Sylvari and other side stories that can only be completed by a warrior, etc. Those would have to be instances, of course. I also recommend that the story difficulty scale reasonably with your level. Challenging but not frustrating. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, there must also be incentives that encourage players to use non-level 80 characters for these stories. Better reward chances than if you had a max level character, for instance. If these stories are instances involving parties, I think it would be best if the highest level character dictates your reward chances such that 4 levels 80s aren’t doing all the work while that level 1 is picking his nose and gathering up all the best loot.

I’m fine with the current story-line, I’d just like to see the Story-line paths of all the Dungeons added into the story. Would make it more like the Missions from GW. And you can’t advance until you complete them. I’d even go so far as locking any zone that is a higher level than the story-line you are on.

They could even tie in more stuff to do with your chosen Order; 3 different stories leading different encounters bridging the gap to future elder dragons.

Say, Vigil go up against Jormag – Whispers against Kralkatorrik and Priory after Primordius. Not the actual battle, but events and a personal story that makes you feel more connected to your chosen Order and leading up to these elder dragon fights sometime in the future of the game.

At some later stage; Anet can then tie in to make the 2 other combinations of Order stories where they will rotate which elder dragon they go after… i.e. clues being found, dragon champions/lieutenants being hunted down, etc.
