Hi there folks,

I’ve been having conversations in my guild about the growing frustration about having the same ’’Poll’’ (top 3 servers in Europe) against each other for a long time now.

For the last couple of months (can’t even remember anymore) Vizunah Square – Seafarer’s Rest and Desolation have been battling against each other in WvWvW for far too long now, that’s why I hear allot of complains about having to go against the same servers everytime. In this case Vizunah and Seafarer clearly outmatch Desolation.

Now I’ve been thinking lately, does it realy matter to be in the top 3 of best WvWvW server in for example Europe or America? In this case I can’t see an end in these matches (Poll) against these servers. And it may takes months or years before Desolation is kicked out of the top 3 (currently 3rd in the top 3).

What if server ranking didn’t exist? And every server in Europe and America get different matching servers once every month, having allot more of variation and sometimes a challange as a server to be the top of that month?

I see allot more fun this way then the never ending match these top 3 servers got which has become just boring to be honest….

So let me know what you guys think

I kinda agree with you, but I think it would better in my opinion to have some kind of points, but simpler.
For example server change tier every 2 or 3 reset, first in last out system. In other word evere week first server gets 3 point, second 2, third 1, after 3 resets we sum the score, and first go up tier last drop downs tier, if equal sum wvwvw capping points at the end of the matches to know servers place.

It’s not fun to be completely crushed. When we went down two brackets, we destroyed our enemies to a degree they couldn’t even get out of their spawn on all maps. That wasn’t fun for them, and it surely was no fun for us. Now imagine a T1 server playing against a T9 server.

Problem with that is if you set a low pop WvsW server vs Viz or SFR its not fun for them or Viz/SFR even do Viz are chickens

Your right, having to face the same servers over and over does drag on. In order to push ones server into the next tier requires one to have to fight every single day after work.. sure you might have your victory eventually and push into the next tier. Now what? its the same thing again just a different named server never ending. What if you want to take a break from the game? sorry, the match times carry on without caring about the players. In order for people to put in a real investment to their server requires an unhealthy level of high-intensity play. It’s not healthy for your wrist muscles to be tense an entire 6 hour session with no stretch breaks, us gamers are athletes of the hands! we need just as much care as athletes to keep our circulation up, our hands warm and our tendon sheaths with no tension.

My suggestion? Make it one week everyone has a match and then the next week no one fights. this would encourage pushing with everything you’ve got and may even add some dynamics to the stagnant rankings by motivating lower ranked servers to make organized push of it… and knowing that all your hard work to push your server to greatness isn’t on the line because your burnt out and decide to take a break! It will also encourage more “night-shift” time-zone players to actually log on and give it their all after the week off, therefor increasing the intensity and ferocity of matches. Distance really does make the heart grow fonder and I think it would set guild wars 2 apart from the sea of other MMOs because the wvw idea is actually a great game idea but there’s no real sense of server progression when you can lose it all if you take a break. Arena have mentioned their ideal for the game is to not keep people tied to the treadmill with a subscription fee, players should be able to not feel guilty for leaving the game for a while! It’s in everyone’s best interests!

And I know the counter argument is something along the lines of “not everyone plays on the same schedule/timezone. what if i live in an off-peak time zone and I have a job that only lets me play GW2 at times only in the cool-down week? I wont be able to ever play wvw!”
Well my answer is if you live in an off-peak population timezone of the world, this scheme will help you as it boosts the amount of people interested in making a difference in wvw as they’’ll know they hold that spot in the rankings for a whole week (or for however long arena thinks would be best for this idea). If your job doesn’t let you play during the week where the matches are on then that’s the only issue, maybe arena could make it like daylight savings where the week switches from every first week to every second week or something like that I don’t know…

I hope arena actually read the suggestion forums this would change everything for the better.

Introduce area effects like muddy terrain which slows your movement, frozen ground which makes you immune to stability, fog which reduces your attackrange by x%, etc.

boring match among top 3 servers you say?

ok. lets imagine #3 server gets some #14/#15 ranked servers

fight would be even more boring, #3 server would have 95-100% objects captured. other 2 weak servers would be pushed into spawn zones

for #3 guys it would be boring, because there is nothing to fight

for #20/#21 guys it would be frustrated because they couldn’t do anything even if they wanted to, because they are just too outnumbered any time of the day

would you want to be on #15 ranked server doing world exploration, when matched against tier 1 server? thought so.

I think Anet can mix T1 and T2 etc, what I mean every 2 tiers get mixed and play each other.

Now lemme explain the idea.

T1 servers wont get any buff (so staying at T1 still for bragging lol)
T2 servers playing vs any T1 server will earn outmaned Tier Buff (which will help to counter abit their T1 power, so basically a T2 server can play with outmaned buff plus Tier outmaned buff.

So this give around 6 servers to rotate battles between.
The Tier Outmaned Buff will 300 max ALL stats.

Some will think its OP, but I think can be a good challenge for those Top servers at each bracket, and might be fun too.

We keep the currenct server points, to describe whose T1, whose T2 etc, and bring out a new League system will need to record the Tier Outmaned Buffs.

[Tier Outmaned Buff]
Tier Outmaned Buff = 300 max ALL stats + 100% more Keep defense (walls, door and sieges)

League 1
Composed by T1 and T2 servers

T2 servers fighting any T1 server
4th place = earn buff of 100 ALL stats (because this the T2 winner dominant server)
5th place = earn buff of 200 ALL stats
6th place = earn buff of 300 ALL stats

League 2
Composed by T3 and T4 servers

T4
10th place = earn buff of 100 ALL stats (because this the T4 winner dominant server)
11th place = earn buff of 200 ALL stats
12th place = earn buff of 300 ALL stats

E.G:.
So basically is this:
League 1
1 ‘T1 A’ server vs 1 ‘T1 B’ server vs 1 T2 server (5th place server)
A server earns no Buffs
B server earns no Buffs
T2 server earns Tier Outmaned Buff, plus can earn Outmaned buff too. (with current ladder position the buff is 200 ALL stats)

League 2
1 ‘T3 A’ server vs 1 ‘T4 B’ server (10th place server) vs 1 ‘T4 C’ server (12th place server)
A server earns no Buffs
B server earns Tier Outmaned Buff, plus can earn Outmaned buff too. (with current ladder position the buff is 100 ALL stats)
C server earns Tier Outmaned Buff, plus can earn Outmaned buff too. (with current ladder position the buff is 300 ALL stats)


I think this can look very cool and fierce.
Give the weaker servers a great buff, allowing their low population to have more stats and be able to fight something with their low numbers. Plus for each top tier server at their bracket the challenge is to remain at their current ladder.
