This thread is not so much about what new skills could be added but how new skills could be added, specifically weapon skills as it seems pretty easy to simply add new healing, utility, and elite skills. Note: My main character is a warrior, so most of the inspiration for this post comes from the warrior proffesion. I do not know how well this would work with other proffesions but I think it is versatile enough to apply to all proffesions.
First of all new weapons could and should be added. Scythes(though possibly this is saved for an upcoming Dervish proffesion), pikes, whips plus a host of others could be added.
Secondly new types of weapons could be added. For example; instead of having just a one-handed sword you could have the choice between several different types of one-handed sword like a short-sword, a long-sword, or a scimatar. Each could have new skills as well as variations on current one-handed sword skills with different effects pertaining to each weapon kind. This would vastly improve the amount of skills and skill variations, which has good and negative effects. Balancing would probaly become harder, but if done carefully it could be a very fun way to expand your proffesion. I hope Arena Net creates new proffesions and skills to keep this game fresh and exciting for years to come.
