I’ve been thinking for long time if I should even post this because of lack of interest from ANet to any idea of players, especially ideas about legendary precursors. Some people might say that the way it is now is good, but I think it’s not. I’m not even speaking about horrible RNG that is consuming peoples time (spending it on farming rares / materials to throw them without any success to forge) and money (confirmed cases of people that threw over 600-800g into forge and got nothing back). I know that legendary means legendary and it should be hard, but come on. ANet claiming that they’re monitoring situation on TP meanwhile rich people are manipulating prices of crafting materials or legendary precursors and they’re not going to do anything about it. Since legendary that I am going for is Twilight, I need Dusk, greatsword that lowest seller is offering for 700g (at the time I am writing this). I am making up to 10g profit per day when I’m lucky to get some upgrade in MF, but mostly around 4-5g or lower. That means that I need to play around 140-150 days straight to get 700g. Since I am not asking my guild mates to give me money / materials then I am not going to do this any fast like people over YouTube (1 month legendary etc because whole guild or big group helped that person). 5 months seems kinda uncool. I know that noone forces me to play everyday but I think ANet should do something about these kitten precursors that are driving people mad. I saw a lot of crafting ideas all over the forum that were not bad but of course ANet didn’t pay attention. I am leaving this topic for you, community, to discuss and hopefully waiting for someone from ANet to answer.

My idea:
- Make chain of “story quest” events that will require full party to complete.
- Chain should take, let’s say, 20h (each quest around 1-2h or so).
- Reward must be account bound for sake of TP farmers (it’s unavoidable to observe drop in prices on TP if something like this was introduced to game, but I think that people wouldn’t mind it)
- Chain doable only once, account wide (just for 1st legendary, you want 2nd? buy it from TP / gamble in MF)

Any ideas or criticism appreciated. I’m very curious what does community think of this matter.

Simply because a RNG is a horrible way to go about this. Any way would be better.

I agree. There is got to be a better way to get the Precursor item than the current way.

+1. Even if the story took a long time to release (takes more than throwing a cs and some bosses together) I would wait. I have not worked on a legendary because
A. All legendaries have 1 skin except gs. Idc to look like everyone else, I wanted to be unique!
B. RNg is just plain wrong. So is a grind but thats another topic for another time.

they simply don’t care. the pursuit of these weapons, that like T3 cultural are merely good for a skin, has without a doubt provided insane profits in their gem store. yes, devs would like the game to be fun and reasonable (though this one aspect isn’t even close) but it’s still a business. requiring stupid amounts of gold for weapon skins is profitable. oh, and this RNG kitten is terrible to say the least.

Anet already said they will be adding in different ways to get them with a HUNT.

It has been mentioned before in the forum but using Laurels to get precursors is a very good idea.

yea, that was half a year ago. they even updated that statement this year saying that these “hunts” aren’t coming any time soon.

That statement wasn’t a year ago, it was back in November, yes that was 1/2 year ago, but that’s still a big difference, and when/where did they say the aren’t coming out anything soon? I don’t doubt they aren’t come out soon, I just want to see it word for word, and if you cant get that info (or someone else) then Im not believing in it just yet.

The scavenger hunt was mentioned a while ago but afaik no one is working on it, despite several posts requesting that this problem be looked at. Several solutions have been brought forth, most simply requiring new mystic forge recipes which is almost no work for anet. My guess: they won’t impliment it for a long time
