No.1 Skill on Mesmer Greatsword
I’m sure they’ll get more melee. A-net has said they are working on getting all weopons to all classes.
Dustfinger I’d like to see where you got that. I haven’t really heard Anet say that they’re getting ALL weapons to ALL classes, merely that they’re trying to expand weapon options for all classes. Could you provide a link please?

“Now let’s talk about the specifics Colin and I chatted about during our call”.//// “What’s more is that the team is also working very kitten finding a way to make it so that every profession has access to every weapon”
That’s really good news. Good find Dustfinger. Ohh the possibilities. I’m excited thinking about having access to all weps on my mesmer.

“Again, there’s no specific timeline for this”
That’s a looooot of kitten work finding unique moves for each class for every weapon. Still I’m not opposed. Would make getting 5k kills a little easier for the weapons. Except warhorn and focus. I’m still not even going to pretend I’m ever going to get anywhere near 5k.
i suspect not every move will be wholey unique. But the diffrent combinations attached to each weapon coupled with small tweeks to difffrent moves on diffrent classes will probably be enough to keep each weapon set fresh. And it will still definitly be a alot of work.
e.g.: engineer flame thrower auto and elixer gun fumigate. Both are cone attacks but one is auto and one is not. One applies burning, one applies poison. EG also applies vulnerability and cures conditions. So by mixing and matching, a-net has alot of combinations readily available.
balancing can always be done once a basic theme is chosen for each weapon. And that’s simply a matter of deciding how many of each unit of measurment to apply to damage and boons. And it can continually be updated with every patch and “new build”. So really, the hardest part would be deciding which archtype each weapon set is going to open up to each class. The way they had to decide whether to make mesmer GS ranged or melee.
The mesmer gs auto attack does NOT need to be a melee attack. I’m sure most my fellow mesmers agree.
Mesmer hammer.
Pops timewarp every 3rd autoattack.
GS is range weapon . Many rangers should mele with their bows ? I love mesmers gs because he is different then other gs
So erm… not to burst any bubbles, but the primary source for the article that you posted, Dustfinger, did not say anything about every profession getting every weapon. Here is the primary source (a blog from Colin Johanson): https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
I read it several times and it says nothing about every profession getting every weapon.
I realize that this isn’t the original point of this thread, but I felt it was a hot topic and wanted to talk about it a bit more.

The primary source is the actual article. Not the 2013 plans.
If you read carefully the interviewer bullet points the primary article a-net posted then goes on to describe what his and Colins phone interview entailed.
So after bullet pointing that article, he prefaces the rest of what he is going to say with “Now let’s talk about the specifics Colin and I chatted about during our call”. It is in that phone interview that the interviewer descibes that the every weapon for every class comes in.
