Guild Wars 2

This is my idea for a new Norn form intended exclusively for underwater combat. I hope you like it.

Become the Kraken
Duration: 10s.

1. Strike – Strike your foe.
2. Ink – Release a cloud of ink that blinds and poisons foes who enter it. Damage: X. Blind: 3s. Poison: 3s. Cooldown: 5s.
3. Bind – Use your tentacles to immobilize foes around you. Damage: X. Immobilized: 2s. Cooldown: 5s.
4. Adherence – Suck the boons from nearby foes to yourself. Damage: X. Cooldown 10s.
5. Cthulu Assult – Spiral towards your foe, dragging nearby foes with you. Damage: X. Cooldown: 15s.

The skill could be acquired through a new personal story branch that could be implemented when the deep-see dragon is introduced. I’ve attached some artwork of what I think a Norn in kraken form might look like.

I’ll be honest. This started off as a joke with some friends, but for some reason I think it’d actually be pretty cool. Of course, this would probably mean the other four races would need a race-based aquatic skill… which kind of kills any chance it might have. Regardless, I saw no harm in posting!

i like the idea but kraken does not really fit it.
how about become medusa and a skill which turn enemies to rock that would sweet.

Yeah, Kraken doesn’t fit. Do the Medusa thing. That fits perfectly.

Fabric.

Honestly not sure how either fits in with the Norn theme which is heavily influenced by norse/native american cultures.

The current forms reflect both very well.

We have the wolf and bear which are fine reflections of the Wendigo or Werebears/Wolves or the embodiment of Fenris, Freke, Gere, Hate, Skoll, Garm, Månegarm and so on.

Ravens as far as I know it are very common in native beliefs aswell as key figures in Norse culture, Hugin and Munin for example.

Cats (snow leopards) have a strong connection to norse culture, the 13 cats of Freya that pull her wagon for example.

What is missing is in my opinion some form of horse shape, to reflect the stallion of native lore aswell as Sleipner, Oden’s 8 legged stallion. Or a spider type form and perhaps a squirrel (Ratatosk the messanger, whom they’ve oddly enough named a mountain after in one of the Norn zones). A bull form would also work and maybe a Boar?

But kraken or medusa, I dont know. Those are both very greek.

I don’t really know about the form or it’s relation to lore but I would like a lot another elite for underwater…As a norn necromancer I have 1 usable elite underwater and it’s the most useless of them all

Kraken or medusa don’t really fit. I would like an underwater elite other that the worthless basilik venom but it’d have to fit the lore or atleast style of the norn.

Also, Areanet, please allow dagger storm underwater just have it change into a cyclone. basilik venom takes cast time, lasts 1 second of stone, and is relativley useless in pve and pvp.

The 5th skill is actually a Great idea.

Very cool Idea! Though I do agree that the theme is off. How about an Orca form?

Orca is much more nornly, or a turtle…then we could strap cannons to the Norn! Jormag fear our nornly turtles!

If you want true old Norse, then your underwater beastie is Jörmungandr, more affectionately known as the Midgard serpent. Think of a big-kitten poisonous python that, well in the real old norse, could wrap around the world. He and Thor have a big throw-down at the end of all times. But that said, Jörmungandr has some pretty clear references as a “sea serpent” and could be a kitten transform with a very fast serpentine swim rate. Probably be beautiful in the water. Poison bite or spit would be a natural – I wonder about some kind of constrictor squeeze…

Jörmungandr would be a great form! Posion abilities, coil attack, swiftness. I’d like to see some concept art for this!
