Q:

Why did you make it necessary for these goggles to be a part of the Diving Goggles achieve.. More so why did you make it necessary for this jumping puzzle to have so many mobs and so many ways to fall down and die. Not to mention if you jump the wrong way at the goggles? You start all over again.. Please fix this I am loosing my sanity with this not to mention it makes me want to punch my screen in.

A third day has gone by since I have seriously attempted to get these goggles for my LAST Diving goggles for the Dive Master achieve and STILL the third day goes by with nothing to show for it but a nice repair bill. I have seen a lot of people, including myself; just flat out rage quitting over this puzzle. For me.. this puzzle is by far the worst stress inducer in this games history. Everything compared to this puzzle is trivial and fun. This? Is just painful and frustrating. I cannot express how difficult this puzzle is to those who do not have the greatest set up in the world and suffer from lag.

Yeah when this puzzle was first introduced on July 1st; everyone was doing it. Now no one bothers because of how infuriating it can be.

Please do something about this. Either make the goggles not so high up, or add an alternative, easier method for those not seeking to have an infuriating ‘mandatory’ challenge thrown at them.

Getting to the goggles is challenging enough… Let alone managing to stick the landing in the water to get credit for the achievement. I’m not sure how many attempts it took/how many times I died to get it over a span of several days… Somehow I even managed to spontaneously die after I used the two sprockets and landed on the spring platform near the very top (must have been a glitch or something because there was no falling involved). My suggestion would be for Anet to implement a checkpoint that allows players to be warped to the goggles if they managed to make it there at some point so that when they jump and fall to their deaths they can simply warp back up to the top rather than having to redo the entire puzzle. I’m pretty sure something similar to this already exists in other puzzles (ex: Goemm’s Lab allows you to teleport to different parts of the puzzle) I enjoy jumping puzzles… But this one… not so much. Got my achieve and I’m never going back there again if I don’t have to.

I would like to see just an option to quickly retry the jump. Because now it’s just a stab in the dark, and you’ll probably end up dead on top of a pipe where no one can res you….. or worse, stuck INSIDE a pipe, where no one has a line of sight, and resurrection is impossible.

Don’t you only need 38 out of the 40 dives for the Dive Master achievement?

I will agree though, that dive is poorly designed, since you just have to jump and pray.

when you reach the goggles you don’t have to jump. you have just to fall down.
the direction is, facing the goggles to your left.
just fall!

Can you be a bit more descriptive Amadan? Do we need to be standing on the pipe, or on the platform? Do we need to face the goggles, or should the goggles simply be on our left-hand side? If it’s as simply as just falling down, then I really want to know exactly where to stand, and in which direction I have to be facing.

sorry, you are right.
you have to stand on the platform. if you place your back at the wall of light, looking in the direction of the little pipe you came from, the place from where you have to fall is at your left, near the last little pillar of light in the platform.
you have to fall facing that direction.
there are video on you tube of the direction of the jump. the direction is the same, but i found falling the only one that worked for me and everybody else i was up with

Zephyr Sanctum and Southsun Goggles DO NOT count towards the Dive Master Achieve. They are their own separate Achieves.

Sadly when Anet introduced this new jumping puzzle; they decided to be masochists and add the goggles at the top to part of the Dive Master Achieve. Before July 1st there were only 37 goggles to find. And sadly the Not so Secret JP goggles are mandatory for the Dive Master Achieve.

Again Anet, I cannot stress how difficult these goggles are to get to. I seriously hope you address this puzzles difficulty and the fact that the goggles are a pain to get to. If you die, you start all over from the beginning… And that in itself is hair pull inducing.

The Not So Secret jumping puzzle in Gendarran Fields. There are 2 paths up the puzzle one for the diving goggles and one for the chest.

I’m going to give this thread a bump. Here are my thoughts on this diving location:
1) It makes no sense to have a diving achievement in a JP where the diving achievement is significantly harder than the JP itself. This breaks the mold compared to almost all the other diving locations in or near a JP. The only exception I can think of is Shattered Ice Floe, which is not exactly the hardest of JPs, and even then – it’s at the end of the JP, not harder than the JP itself.
2) I understand that some people like a challenge, but there’s a JP category for them. I fail to see how a casual player is supposed to get this. (Whereas all the other diving locations seem fine in terms of difficulty).
3) There is a significant portion of the community who dislike the JPs with a passion, (I’m not one of them). To force them to go through this for an entirely unrelated category is mind-boggling to me.

Since there is no diving location that is even remotely close to this one in terms of difficulty, it just seems unfair to those who either can’t or won’t do JPs to foist this upon them. If you want to have 38 diving locations, then at the very least swap this one for the Best Dive Ever because:
1) While there is some jumping to be done, at least it’s reasonably forgiving.
2) It’s the best dive ever.
