Not enough Prefixes / Insignias! Crests are useless!
I think we have enough. How many did you expect?
I think we have enough. How many did you expect?
as many as possible.
Heck, most of the prefixes are not even available in PvE !!!
Rabid, Soldier etc prefix is not in PvE at all.
Sure there is a “Crest of the Rabid” or “Crest of the Soldier” but who would use Crests when there are Superior runes?
I’ll just copy some of my original text from here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Need-MOAR-Prefixes-Insignias-Craftable-too/first
From here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mighty#Prefixes
Take a look at this:
“Triple attribute – Items with the following affixes provide a bonus to 3 attributes:”
Prefix | Attributes (Main, Minor, Minor)
Berserker’s | Power, Precision, Critical Damage
Carrion | Condition Damage, Power, Vitality
Cleric’s | Healing Power, Power, Toughness
Explorer’s | Magic Find, Power, Precision
Knight’s | Toughness, Power, Precision
Magi | Healing Power, Precision, Vitality
Rabid | Condition Damage, Precision, Toughness
Rampager’s | Precision, Condition Damage, Power
Shaman’s | Condition Damage, Healing Power, Vitality
Soldier’s | Power, Toughness, Vitality
Traveler’s | Power, Condition Damage, Magic Find
Valkyrie | Power, Critical Damage, Vitality
If we re-arrange them based on their main attribute we get:
Prefix | Attributes (Main, Minor, Minor)
Berserker’s | Power, Precision, Critical Damage
Soldier’s | Power, Toughness, Vitality
Traveler’s | Power, Condition Damage, Magic Find
Valkyrie | Power, Critical Damage, Vitality
Carrion | Condition Damage, Power, Vitality
Rabid | Condition Damage, Precision, Toughness
Shaman’s | Condition Damage, Healing Power, Vitality
Cleric’s | Healing Power, Power, Toughness
Magi | Healing Power, Precision, Vitality
Explorer’s | Magic Find, Power, Precision
Knight’s | Toughness, Power, Precision
Rampager’s | Precision, Condition Damage, Power
Thus we can see that some main attributes have more prefixes than others:
Power = 4
Condition damage = 3
Healing power = 2
Magic find, toughness, precision = 1
Why is this so?
What if i want a build that is like this?
Main: Healing Power
Minor: Power, Precision
With the current variety of prefixes this is not possible.
Why there is no vitality as main attribute prefix?

Crests are useless. No one uses them.
Well I dunno about others but I am not using them ever.
From here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crest
Crests are upgrade components which can be used at any item with an Upgrade Slot upgrade slot.
Relation to other upgrade components
Crests belong together with a set of upgrade components which provide flat bonuses to various attributes.
Seals, Medallions and Crests have the same set of suffixes, the Crest is the stronger version of the Medallion, which is the stronger version of the Seal.
Marks and Talismans are the predecessors of the Seal, but have an entirely diffrent set of suffixes.
Mark (level 20)
Talisman (level 35)
Seal (level 50)
Medallion (level 65)
Crest (level 80)
List of crests
Crest of the Magi
Crest of the Rabid
Crest of the Shaman
Crest of the Soldier
Crest of the Traveler
Trivia
Crests were used as upgrade components for light armor in early versions of the game. Then runes became the only armor specific upgrade component.
Why would we use Crests when we have Runes or Jewels?
Crests are just inferior items when compared against Runes and Jewels
Duly noted, good sir.
I use Crests of the Rabid on my trinkets.
I’d use jewels, but I haven’t found any that offer the stats I’m looking for.
I use Crest of the Soldier in all of my gear because it’s the only thing that gives Power/Vit/Toughness. I like the added survivability and they are pretty cheap.
Now, upgrade items with healing power is borderline useless as +healing power is… borderline useless.
but if u use crests u will not be able to use runes anymore.
True, but sometimes Crests give you more of the stats you want.
Rune of the Soldier
145 Vit
50 Toughness
Crest of the Soldier
120 Power
84 Vit
84 Toughness
Sup Rune of Divinity
+60 all stats
+12% crit dmg
I prefer the stats that come with the Soldiers Crest as it is a nice balance between Offense and Defense.
Useful because you can’t find upgrade slots for some of the stat spreads that are way more useful than crafting prefixes.
All well kept in bank, never use one….
Enlighten please if haz any good use to it.
x6 Superior Runes of the Soldier gives “shouts removes conditions” which Crests does not offer.
Lumines.3916Useful because you can’t find upgrade slots for some of the stat spreads that are way more useful than crafting prefixes.
this is because the “crafting prefixes” is another problem !!! there is just not enough variety to go around !!!
but it seems like no one cares though.

Seconded we need more prefixes to all other classes as well.
Using Superior Rune of the Soldier as an example, it would only benefit those who have Shouting abilities: Warrior, Ranger, Guadian. However, it only affects yourself. If you use your shouts in a form of a rotation of abilities instead of by reaction, then the sixth bonus would be useless for times when you don’t have a condition on yourself. For instance, I’m not about to use “For Great Justice!” if I have a condition on myself (I have “Shake it off!”, Mending, and Signet of Stamina for that), no I’m going to use FGJ when I see an opening in the enemies defenses and I’m confident enough to burst in a lot of damage.
If anything some of these Runes are pretty situational and often targets a specific build for a certain profession, while Crests (and Jeweler Orbs to some extent) allows for more flexibility between builds that share similar traits.

Bingo. As an Elementalist the shout bonus is worthless to me, so if I were to use it I would end up subbing another rune or crest in the sixth slot. I just prefer Crests because, as mentioned above, they give different stats that can’t be obtained any other way.
they give different stats that can’t be obtained any other way.
“can’t be obtained any other way because at the moment there is no “soldier’s” prefix in PvE !!!
doesn’t this fact alone bother you people at all?
say for example, i want armor / weapon pieces with the soldier’s prefix.
main: power
minor: toughness, vitality
i can’t because there is no such prefix in PvE at the moment.
this is unacceptable.
well, for me at least.
It’s called WvW armor (power/vit/tough). The fact this is only available in WvW is the entire perpose, it’s good for PvP (survivability).
As for crests, I see runes as the superior option. It doesn’t help that crests don’t have an exotic item rank, however. If they had an exotic rank, I see them being used more often.
Thorny Scrub – Thief
Desolation
^ but do WvW armor have exotic versions?
well, they are in game and can be used till you get more expensive upgrades. Why bother removing them? Just ignore.

well i am keeping them and feeding them to Zommoros.
he gives me nice gems (jewelery crafting materials) in return.
actually my main concern is that there are not enough prefixes available in PvE.
players are forced into certain builds due to lack of prefixes availability and variety in PvE.

Uhm, I hate to point out your illogical anger here, but if you want Power/Toughness/Vit on armor/weapons…the prefix is called Valkyrie. Takes literally 5 minutes of looking around to get the stats you want.

errrr are you sure that prefix exists in PvE? if it does exist then i must apologize for my error! >.<
because so far i have only referred to the official wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mighty#Prefixes
these are my findings based on the info found in the official wiki:
“Triple attribute – Items with the following affixes provide a bonus to 3 attributes:”
Prefix | Attributes (Main, Minor, Minor)
Berserker’s | Power, Precision, Critical Damage
Carrion | Condition Damage, Power, Vitality
Cleric’s | Healing Power, Power, Toughness

Magi | Healing Power, Precision, Vitality
Rabid | Condition Damage, Precision, Toughness
Rampager’s | Precision, Condition Damage, Power
Shaman’s | Condition Damage, Healing Power, Vitality
Soldier’s | Power, Toughness, Vitality
Traveler’s | Power, Condition Damage, Magic Find
Valkyrie | Power, Critical Damage, VitalityIf we re-arrange them based on their main attribute we get:
Prefix | Attributes (Main, Minor, Minor)
Berserker’s | Power, Precision, Critical Damage
Soldier’s | Power, Toughness, Vitality
Traveler’s | Power, Condition Damage, Magic Find
Valkyrie | Power, Critical Damage, VitalityCarrion | Condition Damage, Power, Vitality

Magi | Healing Power, Precision, VitalityExplorer’s | Magic Find, Power, Precision
Knight’s | Toughness, Power, Precision
Rampager’s | Precision, Condition Damage, Power
Thus we can see that some main attributes have more prefixes than others:
Power = 4
Condition damage = 3
Healing power = 2
Magic find, toughness, precision = 1
based on the wiki,
Valkyrie | Power, Critical Damage, Vitality
Valkyrie is:
Main = Power
Minor = Critical Damage, Vitality
errr are you saying in PvE, Valkyrie is
Main = Power
Minor = Toughness, Vitality
???? O_O
they give different stats that can’t be obtained any other way.

Actually, the set you are looking for can be bought from a Karma vendor in front of Arah. At least the light armor I looked at had those stats. There is also Invader armor which you get through WvW.
^ but do WvW armor have exotic versions?
… Have you looked at the vendors? Yes, they have exotic versions. Those have to be purchased using Badges of Honor, I believe 300 per piece. The karma vendor in front of Arah also sells exotic versions.
totally agree. Some classes have a much easier time setting up their gear. I really would love healing power/condition damage/toughness for a condition support healing build on my elementalist, but it doesn’t exist :/
So many necessary combos are missing imo.

errr embarrassed my level 80 warrior has not physically reached arah yet. >.<
so u r telling me that armor with these stats:
main: power
minor: vitality, toughness
level 80 exotic armor set exists in gw2 via karma vendors in front of arah dungeon as well as in WvW via 300 badges per armor piece? O_O
ooow okies thanks for sharing! i need to check them out then!
but well, the fact still remains that many other types of stats combination are not available in the game right?
i mean if i want a set like this:
main: Healing Power
minor: Power, vitality
i can’t because it is not available in the game yet.
also, stats with main attribute “vitality” cannot be found in PvE at all!
i.e.
main: vitality
minor: other 2 combinations
does this mean anet does not want our characters to have more health in the game? want us to dodge roll more often?
