Note: What I am suggesting here is not as such “mounts” but merely the ability to use content already in game, aesthetically speaking.
The first picture is my Asura Elementalist in Dawnside Quay in Rata Sum. It is all about the little things in an MMO. Especially traversing Tyria seems to be done by waypoint and not actually getting out into the world.
- I think letting a ship go from Dawnside Quay to Lion’s Arch, maybe let one from Lion’s Arch go to Fort Trinity would be a nice alternative to the cost of a waypoint, and this form of travelling actually implements the player into the world, thus adding to the “Immersion” aspect of the game.
- The feeling that you get from travelling by boat is amazing, or so it is to me at least.
- The second picture is (as I’m sure you’ve all guessed by looking at it) my charr. I remember seeing these vehicles in the trailers prior to launch. I thought they were awesome and I looked forward to seeing them in game, alas they are only there for a short time in a Personal Story mission (and they definitely needs some tweaking to animation and mechanics before implementing them into the “actual” game world).
- I think that players should be able to occupy them ONLY in Orr, where the count of undead blocking your way is quite high. These tanks were made for warfare and they are used in the fight against Zhaitan, only… they are not really used in the fight against Zhaitan.
- Why not let players use them? One man driving, some other guy or two occupying the guns. I like playing GW2 with my friends, and letting us take one of these tanks and battle our way to the Temples par example to fight the minions of Zhaitan would give Orr a much needed touch of epicness.
Giving players the opportunity to make warfare as a small group, and giving them the opportunity to team up in a tank or two would be a nice feature. One that I hope is welcome among you, the community, and one that I hope the dev team will take into consideration.
- Thanks for your time, and feel free to comment.
If you disagree, please tell why you think adding one or both of these suggestions would damage the game rather than improve it.
Or if you agree, or have something to add to this, feel free to share that as well.
I’ll see you guys in-game.
