So, for $20 you get the following:

  • A one-use, one-character chalice of glory.
  • A one-use, one-character tome of influence.
  • A ring with m’eh stats for each character.
  • A borderline useless 4-hour golem banker for each character.

For all intents and purposes, I feel swindled of my twenty bucks. Not only is the Rytlock simply a shrunken version of a full-sized Rytlock, but it works only on one character, and you get it on the first one you make. I have a habit of making and remaking my characters until they’re perfect, so my stupid pet got deleted.. and now it’s nowhere to be seen.

So my suggestion is twofold:

1) Make your Deluxe Editions more worthwhile for the money spent. I would have gotten a lot more value spending my $20 for gems on the Black Lion Trading Company.
2) Reimburse your customers. Clearly this isn’t going to happen, but I recommend giving DE buyers their moneys worth, such as the final bag slot, bank slots, and/or character slot(s). For those who already bought them, refund the cost in gems.

Isn’t the golem banker supposed to last 4 days, rather than 4 hours? That’s how long all of mine last, but I pre-purchased…

I bought the collectors edition. I’m quite pleased with what I got for my money. It should also be noted that in the gem store you can buy a digital deluxe upgrade kit which costs 2000gems, for $20 you only get 1600gems. Also I found the chalice of glory and the tome of influence to be very useful to help me get more gear in PvP and help me get my Guild started into it’s upgrades right when the game started. Being able to generate 1000 influence instantly for a guild is super useful. I believe while you only get the mini rytlock on the first char you make, you can exchange him easily between characters and he has his own slot in the collectibles section of your bank. The ring I’m kind of indifferent about, a little extra bonus for my characters is always welcome and I didn’t decide to take it off till I hit like level 30. The golem does last for 4 days, and you get one for each character you make and it’s super useful I find, I’ve only used him on one of my characters so far and I was so glad to have him whenever I needed him.

I think it was made pretty clear on the site what you would get when you got digital deluxe. I feel it’s worth the extra money and I’m going to be helping my guild mates that don’t have it to get enough money to buy gems so they can upgrade.

You forgot to mention the Mistfire Wolf elite skill which you get with the Digital Deluxe and Collector’s editions, which I heard can be used prior to level 30 (need confirmation). If that’s the case I imagine leveling would be somewhat faster and easier from levels 1-30. I agree with you that $20 for an elite skill and a mini is underwhelming but that is why I didn’t buy that edition, you knew the deal when you spent the extra $20 and it was your decision to go for it.

Oh right the skill! it can’t be used before 30 but it does come unlocked so as soon as you hit 30 you don’t need to spend 10 skill points to use it. I like it although I gather it’s not a terribly good elite skill (I don’t use it but I mostly PvP) but it really shouldn’t be being such an exclusive thing.
