As soon as you complete your personal story, there is nothing personal going on in GW2 anymore. (at all)

Here is my Suggestion: Open World Stories

What is it?
Think of it like personal stories, but not as long and available to every race.
These are like additional quests you can take on with your buddies and guildmates.
It may be a single quest or a chain telling a small story. You can once again fight for the villagers and support them by getting rid of Centaurs or Bandits, finding lost people etc. etc.
Open World Stories are, like Personal Stories, instanced and therefore not getting in the way of other people.

How exactly?
Let’s say, after you finished all hearts on a map (to make things interesting) Open World Stories become available for you.
They will look like those green stars indicating Personal Stories, but maybe another color.
After finishing the Open World Story, it’s done and you can not start it again.
You may still join another player doing his story of course.
As said before, this could be a small chain, or a single story.
This could be perfectly combined with additional achievements.

Any Reward doing so?
Yes. First of all: you helped the people once again. And this time they don’t forgett about you and get the same problem 200 times a day.
If you approach a village you helped out in an open world story, they will thank you and remind you of what you have done for them. This way, you have something that really makes the world change.

(arguable) They might even sell things to you that you could not buy before (at least from them).
A lumber mill maybe offers you to buy some wood once a day for a good price and so on.
Another thing could be a small reward in terms of gold/xp/karma and maybe a buff lasting for 10 minutes.
There are many possibilities that are possible, but this is not the center of my idea.

Any meaningfull decisions?
Take this example: A village asks you to recover stolen goods from a group of bandits.
Once you got your hands on those goods, you decide what to do:
Give it back to help our the village or keep it for yourself?
Depending on your decision, in the open world the people of the village approach you differently.

Why the hell?
I really like the personal story idea, but ANET did made it very poorly.
Not only is it quite short, it’s also completely irrelevant. And it has Trahearn. We hate Trahearn.
There are many people like me, who liked the first few story missions a lot more than fighting against big old Zhaitan.
Additionally, there are people who didn’t make a character for every race.
Open World Stories are a brilliant way to let people take part in other races culture and problems.

What do you think about it?
Be reminded, that saying just “nopes” doesn’t help anybody.
If you don’t agree with this concept, maybe point out what you don’t like about it and make a suggestion how to make it better.
If you just don’t care for the stories at all, don’t bother and move along.
Please keep this topic as constructive as you can.

“We just don’t want players to grind in GW2.” – Well, I guess you really failed, ANet!
Update 5.9.2013: getting better ANet, still way to go!
