Perhaps I’m in the minority on this but, across all of my characters, I find the Elite skill to be of, at best, moderate use. Even in cases where I do find it to be a useful skill, I can’t always say that I would prefer it to having just one more slot where I could load in a regular skill.

As such, I would like to see the Elite slot opened up to allow for use of any skill. Leave it as the only slot in which you could load an Elite, but also let players put any of the regular skills in that slot instead if they so chose.

For Most classes, they wont choose that though. Some classes have some VERY strong Elite skills that are a benefit i know my Mesmer is envious of them with the rubbish we got.

I hate that skill, i have used it ONCE. Forced into taking Mass Invis thanks to the fact that TW just plain sucks.

I use it as a gimmicky trick every now and then when I know I won’t need anything else just because it looks kind of funny.

I would rather have another utility skill than an elite skill on some of my characters. Some elites are as useful as a utility skill while others are are not. Sometimes it feels like a wasted skill slot.

I agree and some of them are just about worthless especially the racial elite skills. The first character I leveled enough to get an elite skill was my Sylvari Ranger. I was excited and of course I hate doing homework so I selected Summon Sylvan Hound thinking cool a temporary second pet. I found out very fast that it was basically a slow casting, low damage projectile. Two seconds to cast, it stands there for about 5 seconds before it decides it needs to do something, attacks mob once, gets hit twice, dies. Yeah that’s real elite. LOL

So yes, let me as the player decide what is an elite skill to me to put in that slot.

Well, by opening the slot up to either an Elite or a standard skill it could actually encourage ANet to improve Elite skills given that they would have very clear evidence if no one used them (or if only some classes/races did). Right now we have to load an Elite whether we ever end up using it or not.

Having a system where there was a clear choice between Elite or Not could actually end up improving all of those poor Elite skills that are never used. Ideally, I would like it to be a difficult choice between Elite or standard with Elite often winning out except in certain builds.
