I, for one am glad this will never happen in GW2. If you want some unbalanced gank-fest where you kill lvl 1 noobs for the lulz, there’s plenty of other games out there for that.

Won’t happen, and shouldn’t happen It works for WoW but the combat and style of GW2 would mean it just wouldnt work. Why exactly would players that are meant to be fighting the dragons, that are on the same side (ie no Ally Vs Horde) be fighting each other?

I mean it is plausible we might see an area like this… Anet are also the people that said there won’t be a gear grind then made ascended gear. I can see them making one or two zones in an expansion they swear they won’t release where they create factions for you to choose from regardless of race.

Vigil, priory, and the others could end up at odds with each other at the conclusion of a living story.

ehhh thats too tame. At the least you should have to tag up by talking to an NPC and confirming you will represent the faction while questing in the zone. But it should not be forced pvp tagging upon entering the zone.

and once you tag up and choose a faction you can’t switch on that character. None of that gw1 junk of changing luxon or kurzik.

Why not make it like WoW.

1) Set “Flagged” so you can be attacked by others with it
2) Open world duels where both have to accept

This way it could work. Having it so EVERYONE is tagged just wouldn’t

Unless I want to be bombarded with duel requests and “dool me brah”-type whispers every five seconds? Besides, as some people have said in the past, they want true-PvP with so safeguards whatsover. Why? Because as I said, they believe that ganking level 1 noobs is the highlight of their lives.

Open world PvP doesn’t even fit in with the lore, but then, the dudebro brigade couldn’t care less about the backstory anyway.

You realize the " lore" is dynamic its what ever the Devs say happen, thats why you have “living stories” they make up stuff as they go along. If they someday want to go back to Luxon Vs Kurzick style pvp and make a whole continent centered around it and flag everyone that goes into it they can do that . It will fit whatever lore they want it to and I welcome it. This is not a pve game this is a pvp game the fact that it DOESN’T have truly open world pvp ( not instanced Real Vs Realm) should strike the community as odd.

Being dynamic doesn’t mean it’s being “made up on the go”. It means that we have an opportunity to make a difference in it, both as players and as members of the world. The lore is already written down on paper, the devs know where it’s going. We merely influence how it gets there. That’s the dynamic part of the lore.

And I agree that it’s anti-lore for there to be open world PvP AT THE MOMENT. Because bigger threats exist to the world that transcend faction-influenced rivalries. Just a few months back we were fighting to rid the world of the Risen, it wouldn’t be very appropriate to have someone on your side backstab you just because open world pvp is there.

Yes, it might fit into the lore someday, but it doesn’t strike me as anytime soon.

dont think this will happen, though like a DUEL within pve world would be nice. the only chance you can do this ingame is make a pvp arena, or you and your firned on diff. server in wvw whos currently against each other. or que in tpvp and happens to be in both sepearate team. but right clicking someone and ask for a duel would be nice and will promote players to not just Pve all the time but also try out pvp aspects of the game ^^

Gw2 is a lot about fairness, that’s why in sPvP every one is max lvled and can have every gear he wants. So was the PvP in gw1.
Open world PvP is more like, look he have lvl 20 gear on, let’s’ beat the crap out of him for fun. Skill set for pve and pvp differs a lot, very few build are effective on both at the same time, so nope. But a FFA arena would be fun, GvG too…

Open world pvp opens up server competition between guilds and adds in that “we are the best” factor. I want it because it makes guilds more fun to be in. They can also make it so you cant be pked unless you are level 80. The reason they won’t do this is because they want to make a different type of game then what we have seen. Their focus is more on rewards and pve content. In the long run, however, they will have to add things to the game that will draw people in again because lets face it; no one cares about the living story. The best thing it has is events like the crown pavillion. Because of there payment system they will eventally get diminishing profits. Why do you think they offer 2 days of free to play gw2? They do it when they notice a significant drop in sales. Eventually the only thing that will hold them afloat is the cash shop. They might as well make it f2p by then. That being said, most of the people who play this game are pvers and do not want any sort of pvp to reach them. I would be fine with smaller zones dedicated just to pvping within the server.

That’s understandable. It is very possible to make mechanics that prevent griefing from lower levels. I would play this game for years if they had more pvp mechanics outside of the pvp zone.
