Option to use the looks of other armor types.
That would be good, but the only thing is that it doesn’t make sense to me for a warrior to be wearing a robe. But one of the armor sets for a guardian (HOTW) has a sort of lighter armor look to it. I like to use that one because I am a support guardian and want to look more like a cleric type guardian rather than a juggernaut. If you can find a heavy set with some light armor aspects (once again, take a look at the HOTW set in LA), you should just use transmutation stones to get that look.

I have seen it, but its not what i meant. I like the pirate hats and some armor i have seen in rangers, i am pretty sure they like heavier armor as well…so its an all win sutiation.
Well a ranger in plate armor wouldn’t look right either lol.

I disagree totally. Personally, I would add “profession based armors” like in GW1 I am a huge norn warrior and I wont like to see a small asura thief wearing my imposing armor.
And zallis.2138 is right. It wouldn’t look right

Yeah much like Racial Exclusives, there should be Class Exclusives again. Wouldn’t mind working on the same range as T1, T2, T3 as it is implemented now.

This notion makes the lil OCD button at the lower back left of my brain twitch…
It might be conservative and lacking cosmetic freedom for your character but I would be very very disappointed if Anet implemented this.
A warrior wears plate. A mage wears a dress. It’s like…the law.
I’d be in favor of this, if only because it would mean that my medium armor wearers would have more options than coat, coat, coat, coat, short coat, coat, or for variety… coat.
You have to look at armor in the same way you look at weapons , it’s part of your classes ethos and nothing above of below it can be worn .
I’m a sucker for more customization always but even I have to agree that a warrior in a dress would look stupid.
I’m against this idea.
Right. Cause there’s like no precedent for fighting types in long, flowing garments.

Granted, he’s wearing armor underneath but it’s not like you can tell at first glance, aside from the helmet. Never mind that the game already contains armors that actually offer no protection to vital areas of the body. Wearing a robe instead would offer more protection.
Yes, it’s a fantasy game, but there is such a thing as fantastic realism. Assuming a warrior wears armor to protect themselves and assuming their species’ heart is still situated in their chest, it makes no sense that a suit if armor would protect the shoulder or belly but not the chest.
I don’t mind the idea, I’d likely even take advantage of it if it was implemented. I do, however, find it somewhat baffling to see people so vehemently against it in a game built on the idea of cosmetics/aesthetics and finding the ones that suit you the most.
A Warrior wearing a robe or a Thief wearing plate doesn’t impact your play experience at all. An argument could potentially be made that it might affect PvP/WvW, in that swiftly identifying a class based on its armour is more difficult, but I have a feeling it would be easy to adapt and that, already, most people are identifying classes based on weapons or skills.
I think one good reason why this idea shouldn’t be implemented is because look at which classes want it – its always lighter armour classes wanting to wear heavier looking gear, so the idea basically ends up exploiting the heavy armour class and to some degree the meduim armour class. No plate wearing class would ever put on caster robes but casters wouldn’t mind trying out heavy armour.
Maybe if they edited the light armor to look like warrior armor when transmuted with heavy armor, then that would be fine. But i like being able to look at a person and think “Oh hey, they are wearing large heavy armor with spikes and flames, they are a warrior.”

I don’t think this will ever happen. Armor type do not mix. You cannot use heavy with medium. Try it with preview, see the result.
The texture or UV or whatever of each type of armor do not match with each other. So they would have to remake every single pieces of armor.
I think my thief would look good in some of the light armor.
I think we should just w8 for more armor releases (it’s not that it isn’t going to happen anyway oO be it now or with a future expansion release), also I’d truly appreciate if Anet ran some more art-contests, best one being an armor-art contest, just in case you guys didn’t know Anet ran quite a few art-contest in the past, I still remember the weapon arts one, those weapons would be implemented to the game, so… to help such issues… maybe letting us voting too.
