Option to wear our town clothes as armour.
Yes, make a checkbox you can tick whether to show your town clothes or combat armor, but always retain the stats of your combat armor.
I hope it’s an easy fix because Anet do seem to add more costumes, but in their current state they are truly useless.

iirc the reason they said they didn’t go the costume route is because of immersion considerations. But if this is so, why the wings, cutsie backpacks of Quaggan, Tybolt etc, and the unicorns with the ANet logo on them, as well as other items? All these items destroy their immersion argument.
So, ANet, please bring back Guild Wars 1 costume system.
Agree with OP completely – was extremely disappointed that the new Executioners costume (which is awesome btw ANET, great job!) should be wearable in the open world.

Yep. Very cool skin. But if I can only wear it out of combat I won’t buy it.
I will just stare at people in town wearing that skin.
There was option to wear costume in gw1 above armor (you had visual costume skin and you was defended by your armor) it should work here to !
My inference, and it could be entirely wrong, is that the town clothes are town clothes and not armor because they are race/gender specific and not armor specific. In wvw at least I’m sure this could present a problem when gauging what you are fighting until you are actually in the fray of things.
They don’t want to make up 3 versions of these outfits. And let’s not forget how upset some female warrior might be if she doesn’t get to have that adorable witch costume because it is a “light” armor, or something like that.
This is my assumption and my opinion…. So none of this is likely factual
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
