This is actually pretty intuitive, and should be incredibly easy to implement. When you tag up…give an option to select a color for the tag (ie, standard blue, red, dark blue, yellow, green, orange, brown, etc). This would greatly reduce commander clutter on the map for pugs, and make it easier to follow the right commander.

There should also be more options for who can see the commander tag. Sometimes my guild wants to run without pugs, but that means not tagging up and missing out on squad chat, which is invaluable since you won’t get suppressed there. To alleviate this problem, several options for displaying the commander tag should be made available:

- Public (everyone can see it)
- Guild (only your guild can see it)
- Squad (only your squad can see it; people have to be invited into the squad).

To make this change easier, there should also be changes into how players join a squad. It’s rather unintuitive as it is now (have to actually find the commander—often in the middle of a huge zerg—click them, then right click their name, then click Join Squad). This wouldn’t be a problem if joining their squad from the map actually worked…but it doesn’t. I don’t have a solution for this one, but you guys are smart. You’ll figure it out

I had a similar idea, therefore I join this suggestion.

BTW, joining a squad is easy. Just open the map and click the commander icon → join squad.

What I do miss is an easy option to leave the squad. I know: /d /leave works, but is not intuitive.

An extra suggestion would be to still being able to see other commander tags when in a squad. Just let the squad commander get another color for example.

Joining via map doesn’t work about 80% of the time, hence my suggestion for improvement. Also, you can leave the squad via the party menu (p by default).

I would love to see other size squads as well, for less money, but even with your suggestions, I would love it. I refuse to get a commander tag because of the public icon. If I could set this to private, or even guild, I would probably purchase it right away.

Great suggestion, +1

Great suggestion and it’s been suggested in some form dozens of times since BW1.

Arenanet… for doing so many things right in the game you dropped the ball on grouping systems. There is simply no flexibility to use the commander and squads for anything other than leading a zerg. If you had some other system to allow guilds or multiple groups to form private forces then it wouldn’t be an issue.

Please give players the tools to form units and social groups depending on playstyles and needs. It’s extremely frustrating to not be able to group more than 5 people effectively.
