I’m under the impression that weapons swapping isn’t allowed on engineers because they have kits and it’s somehow a balance issue. It is however extremely annoying and time consuming to constantly be digging in bags full of inventory to figure out where my off-hand pistol went when I switched to the rifle. Even with invisible bags if you switch to a two-hand weapon from dual wield weapons it will only put the main hand weapon in the invisible bag. There needs to be a more organized way of handling this situation.

Suggestion: Add weapon swapping ability to engineers. If in-combat weapon swapping unbalances things add out-of-combat weapon swapping so that the weapons are at least stored in some kind of dedicated slot instead of defaulting to the topmost inventory slot in your bags.

Another possible organizational option is a new bag type that soulbound items get put in first if possible.

What we really need for all classes is a little hotbar above our main skill bar where we can put stuff like weapons, armour and consumables so that we can quickly use stuff without having to either open Inventory or Hero Panel and look for them. Of course, any and all restriction currently in place would apply so you couldn’t switch armour or weapons in combat.

That would be soooo lovely.

I can do thirty Five-Dolyak Arm Curls.

I support the out of combat weapon swapping for engineers. I loved playing as an engineer in the Guild Wars 2 beta but what I did not like was the fact that you could not switch your weapons because of the kits. Since then I chose to start out as a thief, but I might play as an engineer later on.

I thought about opening a thread about a hotbar similar to one that Oglaf is talking about. In my mind it is for consumables only. Food items, “wrench” items like sharpening stone, utility items, like Ash Legion Spy Kit, etc. Could be dedicated slots, one for food, one for wrench, etc, and for ANet: as it is a comfort function could be unlocket through gem store. It wouldn’t be a bonus equipment place, the item would be in the backpack, this would be only a link to it, so we wouldn’t need to open Inventory, search for item and click on it to consume, just click on the hotbar.

agreed on both suggestion.
an hot bar for consumables and one for out of combat weapon swapping. some times i prefer not use some weapon at all for the sake of not opening inventory or hero panel

The reason ANet is allowing out-of-combat weapon swapping is because it’s a way of separating players with good intuition from those with bad intuition.

It’s a meta-game method that shows how the game has some depth.
It’s one of many ways that players can show they’re better then the mediocre masses.

And if ANet wanted a slot for out-of-combat swapping, there would already be one.

If you’re not willing to keep your inventory open like lots of players already do, that’s your own performance plateau you have to overcome if you want be great at the game.

i do NOT support out of combat weapon swapping for engies, (or ele for that sake) only, what i do support is weapon swapping out of combat for ALL or NONE classes, really ele and engi’s have the least amount of different weapons, any of my characters i don’t have problems filling up and almost max size invisble bag with weapons and consumable, using about same amount of consumables i can barely fill same invisble bag size barely half, so a consumable hotbar as well as out of combat weapon swapping for ALL classes would be nice, but not if it is restricted to only one or a few classes
