Outmanned buff
A team of 5 or, god forbid, 10 can hold any small location with the proper siege. With two arrow carts and balistas you can easily fend off a group more than twice your size with about 6 people, especially if the point of breach is known (this is more difficult if there are multiple access points).
If you’re facing a sizeable zerg though, or if the enemy is both outnumbering you AND using siege of their own, then sorry, you’re just not going to be able to hold, and that’s intended. Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to attack a tower with 30 players and have only 5 defenders succeed with loot bags? It’s not fun, and quite disheartening to think of.
Well, it is even more frustrating to players on those servers, that do not have a zerg at hand, but have to go with 5 against 50. So soon this will be 0 against 50, which negates the purpose of any WvW PvP play…
At least you can defend.
If you were in Tier 1 they’d be trebbing your walls from the top of a vista and then would mesmer bomb you and kill you before you could see them.

I agree with this. I was considering changing servers, but I like the people and guild on my current one, so that’s not going to happen. Instead I’ve started looking for a new game to play, and abandon the WvW for now. Even coordination and good defense can’t save 10 people in a borderlands when invaded by 40. Especially if among 40 players they can manage to pull 1g together and buy a golem. Which 1g divided by so many is laughable. Either way, quitting or transferring, the smaller guilds/servers are going to lose players, while the few top tier ones will remain fairly constant. =s
