Overflow as main servers for event maps
That’s a pretty good idea, but it would be more of a bother the first week or so when the content comes out. Since guilds like to run together and what not.
Perhaps there could be a Taxi/Ferry NPC instead, that you can talk to that will send you into an overflow/reenter the que to get into the main again. Maybe not for every event that comes out, but for like the Tower, Mad King Maze, Crown Pavilion events it would be nice.
A more common way I see this idea expressed is the concept of “Underflow” servers.
Basically, if you enter a map with fewer than ____ people in it, you get sent to an underflow instance that, like an overflow, combines people from different worlds. It’s not as clean a solution as overflow servers are to their particular problem, but it’s an interesting idea for effectively consolidating low-population servers, for low-population maps.
Underflow and overflow could work in tandem. One server’s overflow could be the target server for an underflow, and vice verse. The ability to ‘taxi by party’ would remain for those groups and guilds that desire to be in the same copy of a zone.
