I love my pets, but sometimes I just don’t want them around. I don’t want them popping out every time I scrape my knee. I would really love to have them stored permanently until hitting F1, which would open the regular pet menu. That way you can target something and double-tap F1 to call and attack.

I would like it if the stow key kept the pet stowed until I clicked it again even if I take damage. Like you said, I don’t see the point of stowing a pet if it pops back up every time a mob looks at me wrong. Falling damage in jump puzzles is one example of when pets need to stay out of my business.

I too would like my pet to stay stowed until I take it back out again even if I take damage, any damage!

I agree with this. Especially when jumping around or running, having you pet engage in combat is a pain. Although putting it in passive mode helps manage that, if your trying to dodge around traps you don’t want an extra target popping up at the first scrape. Especially when it keeps you in combat.

I think Anet might have designed it this way to avoid seeing some players completely ignore the pet functions and then complain about how they are weaker then other classes. If that’s the case, adding an effect for when the pet is out would offset this; something like a small buff or, a more unique choice, like the ability to track enemies on the minimap (even stealthed ones)…

I don’t really see the need for a buff to offset that. If a player chooses not to use a pet and then decides to complain, then they aren’t playing their class properly. It’s like an Elementalist using only one attunement.

I can see this being used in boss fights as well, where a pet might be getting killed regularly and not contributing. I’ve tried using “buffer” pets on Passive mode, but they usually end up running into the fight anyway.
