Hello, as many of you might know, at the beginning of a character’s life the player takes a small gamble when choosing their appearance. For many of us who like to main a single alt, this is going to be how we are personified in the game world, its how we’re going to identify ourselves, and its what we’re going to think of when the game comes to mind.

Unfortunately, you cannot take into account everything, and often mistakes are made during character creation that are not noticed until far later into the game.

I, for instance, made a Norn warrior and went with the default body type (huge and muscled). I also chose not to take a tattoo. Now, at level 80, I am dissatisfied with how large my character is, and I’d like to have a tattoo. It seems kind of ridiculous that I would have to completely re-level a new character to 80, re-farm my gear, re-farm my dyes, and re-farm my pvp rank back up just to change certain aesthetic things about my character which I did not realize I would not like at character creation.

I understand that the programming of a system in which an already made character can have their appearance and possibly gender altered requires man hours and work, but I am not asking that you simply do this for free. I believe that many people would be willing to pay a small fee, something around $5, to make heavy alterations to their character’s appearance. This is extra money that can go towards the development of new material, other projects, and simply general profit. Think of it, for every 10 people who pay $5 to change their character’s hair, physique, tattoo, facial structure, accessory color, skin tone, eye color, or whatever else they don’t like or have grown bored of, you have essentially sold another box.

I do understand there is only so far one can go with this. Race changes are likely out of the question, due to the investment of the personal story line. Yet, I do not see any issues that would arise with the simple act of allowing a player to re-enter the character creation’s appearance menu.

To summarize: Please allow us to pay a small fee to change our character’s appearance after creation.

I couldn’t agree more, it would be a relatively easy fix which would be HIGHLY used and provide a nice stream of income to come in, to help fund the new expansions.. ect.
make it a fee like 2000 gems or something.. honestly, the price doesn’t matter. people WILL pay it.

Race Change →
fee – 2000 gems
change out the cultural armor to the new race(if applicable), remove all story items received (add disclaimer so people know this)

Esthetics Change →
fee – 500 gems
simple adding things or changing things to an existing model (tattoo, skin color, hair, ect)

search this topic and youll find 100’s of people wondering about this feature, and if/when it will be added.

I cannot stress to you how much profit you can make from this.
and how conveniences like this will keep players like me, from leaving because I have -0- interest in starting over and farming up over 300 skill points all over again, cause I hate how small and how awkward my asura warrior is. >.<

I have a feeling that this functionality will be added in the far future. Like a few years down the line. They did it GW1 where you can:
a) change appearance or
b) change gender and appearance

With gender change costing more. There was even a name-change purchase in GW1 but this came much later. Right now, it’s really early in the game’s life to add such luxuries, especially when they are focusing on ironing out the existing problems as well as provide new content. But who knows, with more money made through this gem store, they may have resources sooner than later.

They should not wait. Not if they are interested in making a profit.

I agree 100% and have suggested this before. I would be all over this.

I wouldn’t bother suggesting prices and think trivial crap like this shouldn’t be overpriced, but I would agree that this would probably be a lot more popular than a lot of the garbage in the gem store. Like how many people really care about town clothing?

My ranger’s butt is too big. It didn’t matter until I got her the duelist armor and you could actually SEE her butt. When 99.9% of medium armor has long coats you couldn’t tell.

My elementalist and thief are too short and then I overcompensated when making my mesmer and she’s too tall (they’re all human females and IMO the scaling during character generation isn’t properly reflected in game).

A couple of faces on my characters didn’t turn out quite as expected and could use minor tweaks. It’s something that wasn’t a big deal but over time, and yeah, now that they’re 80, it’s bothering me.

I somehow managed to pick the same exact hair style for 3 of my norn females (different colors at least) without even thinking about it and could stand to change some for variety – maybe – it’s an uber style. But I mean if you can charge people 200 gems for a simple hair style change – why not?

I dunno, I’m kind of surprised this kind of stuff wasn’t in the game at release since it’s something people ALWAYS want and is the perfect kind of thing to have in a cash shop. It’s complete cosmetic but highly in demand.

I started a 2nd mesmer because I didn’t like the race of the first one after 40 levels. Would’ve been so much better to just burn some gems for a race change (although race change could be a bit sticky due to personal story quest but it COULD be orchestrated – just not as trivial as this other stuff would seem to be).

I certainly hope they dont wait until the far future to add something like this.

they should release it now while people buying it is at a high, and the hype is super high.
then release something new along the same lines (like a new race, or radical new skins) in a year or so, to renew the game and a reason for old players who were bored to come back.

WoW’s model is the one everyone strives for for a reason. they are on the top of the food chain for a reason. doing the little things they do without losing your identity is how any MMO will succeed against the giant soul devourer that is WoW.

They actually already have it in testing. It was accidentally added to the gem shop for a short while, but they removed it due to some bugs.

Don’t think even something like this will be coming soon. They have so much other things they need to fix ASAP such as sPvP since its dying.

sPvP is dying? I can always find a full server and people are playing all the time. Granted, like with any game the player base is going to shrink until you get a devoted community. It seems like this shouldn’t be too far off.

They are already working on it.
