While running around doing everyday normal gameplay in PVE content, I have a rather smooth gameplay experience. However, in larger events (and especially in WvW), where there’s lots of action and spells going off, I end up in a slide-show of the game having ~5 frame per second. I suspect however it’s more to it than just alot of action going on, since I should get back my usual framerate by looking away from the action. I still have low framerate for quite some time during combat.

Would it be possible to include a slider/option to the Graphics page, that lets players control the amount of particles in the spell effects? Less particles = Spells doesn’t look as nice, but they might also run more smoothly.

Attaching DxDiag for evaluation. Thanks.

YES! Particle effect slider is needed. Currently it’s jsut ridiculous when you fight in a larger group. You can barely see anything through all those particle effects.

I support this. This might be asking a lot, but I’d even like to go a bit further and ask for variable settings. For example, detect how many people are nearby and adjust particle amount accordingly.

I can typically run at 50+ fps with everything absolutely maxed…but if ONE engineer is anywhere nearby with a flamethrower, I’m done.

My problem is not how well the game runs on my rig. Its the fact that you can’t see the target. 1/2 the time in WvW in large scale battles I’m guessing where my target is. In effect now I’m am just tabing for health bars. So for me 1/2 the time WvW is reverted to what my healer did in WoW. Watching health bars.

I remember WoW has an addon that dynamically control your graphic settings depends on your FPS. If you drop your FPS under 30FPS. The addon will automatically adjust the settings to keep it above 30FPS.

I concur. Doing some DEs in Orr and Jade Quarry just sucks the fun out of the game and goes against ANet’s philosophy about skill. I’m just getting a zerg fest environment that one really cant play as the particle effects saturates the ground so much you can’t see your target or that you can see your mouse at all in order to use AoE abilities like grenades or the Warr’s hammer adrenaline ability.

Is there or will ANet make a statement on this issue? This is a rather serious issues as some who gripe against the game mention DEs being zerg fest. I never encounter it till now but I don’t like how DEs end up in highly saturated areas where one can’t even see or tell whats going on in a fight.

Yes please, I would like to have an option to tone down the FX. During highly populated events I seriously can’t see kitten because of all the spam.. I can’t tell what I’m attacking and it hurts my eyes.

You are not one of their “most dedicated players”. Don’t worry, neither am I apparently.

And i would enjoy being able to make more particle effects, since my computer would handle it. As long as you have a suggestion for how many the game is designed for.

Yes please, this slider is very much needed. Would help in events and WWW. Seeing nothing but overdone particles effects during those, is quite disturbing for my visual pleasure, which I would like gaming to be.
