Dear ArenaNet, (I first post this in discussion, but I would be better here)

This is not a complaint about the game, in fact I really enjoy it that I can play it as a casual player. It looks nice, I love the lore. I got nothing bad to say about that.

There is something that I don’t like and this is about the patch notes. They need a lot more information then we got now.

This where the patch notes of today:
Fixed missing female voice over lines that were not playing during some story cinematic sequences
Fixed an issue where NPCs would stop moving and result in some events from being blocked
Fixed a Mac client crash and added better crash reporting support

Great bug fixes that is good. What is not good we don’t know what you changed. This needs to change.

Example:
Fixed an issue where NPCs would stop moving and result in some events from being blocked:
Fields of Ruin: Escort the Royal messenger.

And so on, then we know where to look if something works again. So we can actually do them.

I hope you see this feedback and actually use it.

Greetings

Personally while I agree often patch notes do require more information (such as the instance when they ‘combined’ traits with no information on how this was done), the examples you have quoted really do appear to be as they are.

Do I really want to know exactly which lines of text were missing or in which stories? No. Do I really need a list of every single event that could have been effected by that bug? No.

When they make changes that effected specific events then sure tell us which it is (which they do alread) but with general changes like this a massive list of events is no more helpful then no events listed.

First: Was that all the 50+ mb patch this morning (the 19th of september GMT+1) did?
Second: Could you please get better at releasing your patch notes – perhaps before the patch is applied, so that us users are aware of what the patch is doing exactly.
I might be wrong, but I don’t think it’s shown in the launcher, when it’s updating – that would be nice!

Besides that, adding a timezone stamp would help, as we are all in different time zones.
I’m personally confused by the latest patch note being for the 18th of september, as I got the latest patch this morning, as described above, and I know from a friend, that it was applied this morning at around 8:53 GMT+1. I downloaded it approx 9:15 GMT+1. I hope you can understand my confusion about the patch note reading 18th of september, when the patch was released the 19th of september (due to the actual time of release for the patch, I highly doubt that the likely difference in timezones will influence the difference in release time enough, for the date to be different.)

That was my 5 cents – hope you’ll implement some of them for further patches, as I think it to be a great help for your users.
