Every other game launcher I’ve seen as of late does this. Heck even Guild Wars (GW1) has it where when you launch the game, the login screen (essentially the launcher for the sake of argument) has patch notes and updates on-screen.
I like being able to read the new patch notes while the game updates and some games choose to launch the browser linking to the forum thread describing the updates and some just have the notes in the launcher. Either of these are acceptable and welcomed changes.
