Personal Housing and Guild Halls
Very hard to choose.
As a guild leader, I know how valuable it is having somewhere for guild members to congregate for meetings and socialising, I’d have to say guild halls. Playing mini-games together, like Belcher’s Bluff would a be a fun party event.
On a personal level, I spent hours and hours decorating/rearranging my houses in SWG. I also spent hours as an Architect making furniture, both to sell and to decorate other players’ houses with.
All over the game I see furniture, paintings and items I’d love to place in a house. A shelf unit containing every drink in the game would be awesome!
As a guild leader it would depend on how the guild halls are aquired. If they require merits then I would seriously hate them cause it would make it so smaller guilds or guilds who don’t wish to participate in guild missions wouldn’t be able to get one.
Housing would be great in this game especially if it is like EQ1 where you can actually build the house.
Both ideas are great. I’m looking forward to “wars of guilds” – mb after guild halls they add guild castles etc. and then sieges on it. I know it is just a dream but it will be nice to fight to defend “home” with other guild members.
Definitely would prefer guild halls if they only did one.
- Guild leader and others with permission should be able to customize the looks of it.
- Having merchants/craft stations/karma merchants/bank/trading post/laurel vendor available at the start or unlockable with influence, merits, gold, or if they introduce a new currency just for spending on guild hall customization. Unlockable probably be better slowly filling up your guild hall with people and stuff sounds nice.
-Different guild halls like guild wars 1 had and would be nice if each guild hall was kinda unique such as having a jumping puzzle in them or certain monsters and explorable areas.
- Practice bounty targets, in the midst of bounties isn’t always the easiest way to practice certain targets that actually have mechanics that make them difficult. Now you could always do anything with numbers but much harder for smaller guilds.
- Maybe introduce guild achievements into the game.
- Something like the hall of monuments in GW1 able to put on display mini’s/certain weapons/armors/titles. Could put mini’s on display in a fenced area and weapons/titles on display as statues. If they put in guild achievements then you could always unlock display stuff from certain achievements. Possibly even permanent guild boosts like personal achievements although that might be too much.
- Guild calendar can post multiple events and times and updates. Granted for this you can also keep changing your message of the day in game or if your guild has a website can use that but as they did with the LFG tool always better if you can provide the tools in game so people don’t have to go elsewhere.
- Just got finished playing .hack g.u. always liked the idea of the guild leader being able to spawn monsters inside the guild hall but I doubt that will happen xD.
Both ideas are great. I’m looking forward to “wars of guilds” – mb after guild halls they add guild castles etc. and then sieges on it. I know it is just a dream but it will be nice to fight to defend “home” with other guild members.
Sounds like 1/2 prince I like the idea of it. Isn’t too impossible could be an event you can build or they could perhaps work it into a living story sometime. Would be pretty nice if it could also just randomly happen like you are just playing and you get a mail that your guild hall is under attack as long as it doesn’t happen and you can never use your guild hall because it is always getting captured xD.
- Guild Hall specific events able to be built preferably does not take up same slots as your upgrades and should take good amount of time to build something close to a week or longer. Like Kasteros said defending the guild hall from an incoming attack could be one possible event and I’m sure there are definitely some others like an escort mission for a guild firework display or something or a guild picnic where you have to go gather things from around your guild hall. See easy variety got defense, escort, harvest and attack mission would be easy enough to do. At the ends of the missions aside from gold/karma/influence/merits/commendations or whatever they decide to give I think would be nice if it also gave all participants or the guild a buff for a certain amount of time and a different buff depending on which mission you did. Gathering one probably something to do with magic find or gathering boost
Defense could give bonus to vitality/toughness
Escort speed /precision maybe
Attack power/condition damage
Obviously those buffs would have to only apply in PvE
-With the introduction of guild halls would also be nice to bring GvG back.
I would say Guild Halls if I had to choose with everything as a possibility. For example, crafting stations of all types, merchants, both personal and guild vault boxes, trading post, laurel vendor, etc. I think GvG is out of the question currently as they seem to want to group the playerbase together rather than pit them against each other for the most part. I do miss GvG and other modes of PvP, though. I’d like an HA, for example. Alliances would be wonderful (just please no Faction alliances to prevent alliances with other guilds!). I would also like a “last logged on” just so I can see who is actually somewhat active in my guild to know to promote them or not. I don’t kick people unless they have personality issues with the rest of my guild (we’re small).
Please just change the barely-useful home instances into Guild Home Instances with a central hall and player housing.
The Guild Hall should have all of the amenities as possible upgrades, just like GW’s did. That system worked wonderfully.
EDIT: It would be even better if the player housing (maybe guild halls, too?) was somehow design-able by the player (like Skyrim’s Hearthstone update) but I think that request may be going far beyond what is possible. It’s just a dream of mine, but that would be absolutely amazing.
This could also be a potential new crafting discipline, if players can create their own housing and guild halls and sell the blueprints to other players. The potential there is incredible.

I made a suggestion for personal housing a while back, where players can place a portable door on any wall, to claim it as the location of their home instance.

I would say guild halls. I’d like both, but I can hear massive QQ about housing if people only have a few places to choose from. Guild Halls would be the same internally, and thus each capital could have a gate/door leading to the guild hall.
Taking from what others in the thread have said, guild halls could have:
-Permanent Buff Banners (limited to an amount)
-Crafting Stations
-Mini Games
-Various Merchants
-Trading Post(?)
Each thing would have to be unlocked. Like to get a Permaent Karma Banner in the Guild Hall, you would also need to have already unlocked the current Karma Banner and the guild-wide Karma boost. And it could be limited to 2-4 banners in the hall at a time. Heroes banner should not ever be an option for that.
Each crafting station would have to be unlocked seperately, but all become available at the same time and have the same cost.
Mini Games, the only thing I can think of is Belcher’s Bluff (as another poster mentioned) and RC Golem Chess, but I’m sure more can be thought of.
There could be each kind of merchant to unlock (Karma, Laurel, WvW, Gold, Guild, Etc.). No Black Lion Merchants. And we would be able to upgrade the stock of these merchants as well (ones like the WvW and Laurel merchants would come fully stocked, but Karma/Guild/Gold merchants could get more items as upgrades)
Iffy on having a Trading Post in the hall. I’d probably say no, and let guild members use the Trading Post Express or just go out the hall.
Can’t have everything in one place, ya know?
Elzareth – Asura Mesmer
It would be great to have guild halls again, like in gw1. A place for guildies to come together with all the needed facilities in one place. Really loved the various designs for the guildhall in the past with their own distinct setting.
They have mentioned that they were looking into guild halls and that they will probably be something we will see someday. As far as player housing, they mentioned that might be a possibility but I have not heard anything more about it in the last 8 months or so.
Inspiration is only as good as it’s interpreter
I would also like a “last logged on” just so I can see who is actually somewhat active in my guild to know to promote them or not.
Completely forgot about this idea ya it has bugged me not having a last logged info but no need for that to wait til guild halls give us that now along with guild wide mail.

- Guild farm sorta like the stuff they are giving in living story for our home instances right now. Not sure unlock method but definitely would have to be limited as to how much you can have and take effort to get cause lets face it if possible everyone would start growing ancient wood or orichalcum. Maybe completing a series of events for them or just needing to donate a certain amount of that material and then you get a permanent node of it.
- Asura gate to LA in all guild halls
- Able to unlock a mystic forge for guild hall
Both ideas are great. I’m looking forward to “wars of guilds” – mb after guild halls they add guild castles etc. and then sieges on it. I know it is just a dream but it will be nice to fight to defend “home” with other guild members.
And where is the difference with claiming a tower/keep in WvW? :P
While having the utility stations available is handy, to me there’s not a great need for a guild space with all that if it’s -only- with all that. I want customizable space with a choice of architecture and furnishings (interactable furnishings, at that). LotRO did it pretty well except for minimal attach points leaving you with acres of wasted floor and wall space.
Guild halls should be larger versions of personal housing, and both should be attainable for most any player. I played Allods for a brief while. That game offered airborne warships for guilds, with inter-guild combat using them … for far more money than any player was likely to come up with. Meh.
I would love a personal house or home intance with:
-points to farm and plant
-a place to put your Minions
-dynamic events inside (events as bandits attack his farm and you must defend it)
-wardrobe
furniture and objects-purchasable by karma and craft
-dgs/world boss can drop items for crafting furniture
-hire NPCs to defend your home instance
Can someone explain to me why guild halls would be better than using any place in the world as a meeting-area for your guild? Guilds could meet in Ebonhawke for example, what do guild halls have that Ebonhawke hasn’t? And why is it important to be instanced?
Because guild halls would most likely be customizable and if done right could have lots of advantages event wise over a random place also most likely guild halls would be free/easy to get to would probably be like the Hall of Monuments is where you just use a portal stone and can then exit back to where you were originally before using the stone.
One of the biggest things I would want from guild hall would definitely have to be customizing it visually although the more it can do the better and more stuff to work for guild halls should definitely have some vanity aspects to them to strive to get.
