So I have 4 80’s, with that I have played through the

  • Durmond
  • Order
  • Vigil
Where I love the story line I have one major issue

The NPC you get from the start of joining.
Vigil is a Norn brawly and stout
Durmond Sylvari frail and squishy
Order Charr childish and somewhat campy

They all have a Unique personality given to them but as you reach the battle of Claw Island you lose them they die so you may live ( very good way to add emotion ) but it feels wrong for the Order and Durmond.

I mean shutting the gates and saying I will buy you time for the vigil Warrior stout and a fighter with great melee skill makes since, especially the way you have the NPC set up.
The Durmond Sylvari on the other hand is not one to just give up her life in a un matching odds type of person. I mean risk yes but that was suicide for her and I feel it doesn’t match her personality. Maybe a death scene by shuffing someone out of the way from a projectile or pushing you from the Maw of the dragon that lands is more fitting.
Order he is great I loved him the most but again shutting the doors and dying like that doesn’t fit him ( more so than the durmond chick but ), maybe getting overwhelmed at the Beacon and him going to use blinding/ stealth powder and realizing he only has enough for one and chooses you instead. Something that isn’t so out of character for his personality.

I know you can’t change the way it is now, it is what it is but maybe for future expansions or storylines, don’t make NPC of three different personalities all die the same way kind of cheapens the feel your trying to achieve I think.

I’m 100% on board with this. It felt very cookie cutter and given that the first time I saw it it was with Sierran (the Durmand Priory companion) it just made no sense.

It was like “what? The DOORS saved us! Why did she need to kill herself for no reason!?”

At least with the Vigil guy he was a old Norn warrior, who had lived his life and had nothing left in the world but the hope that he would find a legendary and heroic way to die. His death made perfect sense. I feel like they wrote it for him originally and then just tacked it on for the other two. (This is supported by the fact that the Vigil are the ‘default’ Order you end up with if the story glitches and you don’t actually pick one.)

Also this whole thing REALLY annoyed me, because those are like, my favorite NPCs in the game, and they’re clearly just killed off for no reason so that you can have Trahearne be your companion instead.
