I would love this to be implemented somehow
Raising your own pet, training it, evolving it, battling other pets with it, etc.
stoked
The problem is they would have to change the entire way pets work.
At the moment all pets of the same kind and level are identical. If I pick a bear at the start and keep it with me until level 80 it will be identical to one a level 80 player tamed 30 seconds before. So there would be no real challenge, if my bear beat the newly tamed one it would be down almost entirely to luck and could easily go the other way in the next match. There would be no challenge, and probably no real appeal, to the matches.
If they went back to the system they originally had planned where you train and level up your pet and they gain abilities as they grow then something like this would be a great idea, but at the moment I don’t think it’d work.
Just play some pokemon while waiting for a dungeon group or wvw queue to pop.
Yea, but in the southernmost section of Lion’s Arch, there’s a little mini arena type thing with two “mini pets” in it. So what is THAT for?
it looks like a kittenfighting ring.
Hmm, I am sure if ArenaNet have plans on having such implementations of Pet vs Pet, they would definitely play it smart in regards to balance, etc.
I am sure these tamed pets can have super distinguishable features as opposed to Rangers’ pets, etc.
My idea is actually strictly for Pet vs Pet, so these pets actually won’t have any role in PvE or PVP except for strictly Pet vs Pet
*hoping for this
look up the polymock mini game from gw1 it is almost the same thing they said they are gonna implement polymock eventually but maybe they will change a few things??
There is that closed Ploymock portal in Rata Sum
How about using mini pets instead of the normal ones? This would give the mini pets more purpose than just collectible in a bank. Also:

Thank you for linking the video. I didn’t see one in a quick YT search, but this is exactly what I was describing in my post up top:
