Guild Wars 2

Now I know I sound like a broken record when I keep championing this hope, but I would absolutely love it if they can be put in as a playable race. So many signs point ot that they will be playable, but this is a nod to them, saying “Go for it”

I read the art book that came with my Guild Wars 2 copy, and I read the entry about the Tengu. They were originally to be one of the playable races, but scrapped to focus on the 5. It hinted that they would also be a big future development hope.

I say, why not put them in, now that the game is out, and that you already got the original races in. After optimization of the game, of course, the Tengu have a lot of potential. Maybe introduce them alongside a new class, or stand alone.

If I recall, they had 4 ‘houses’ This could play into their creation. Unfortunately I am not able to recall these particular groups, but for a personal story, they could play it out.

I believe they are being targeted mostly by Primordus? I know you help them outside Kessex Hills by a gate to thwart the Destroyers. Perhaps when Zhatain isn’t a problem anymore and you move to Primordus, the Tengu could join the other races in the game against the remaining Elder Dragons.

Not to mention, they state they soon need to choose who are allies an enemies… and Apparently I hear rumors around that a Asura Gate is being constructed in the Dominion of Winds to Lion’s Arch.

What the main entrance of DoW seems to be in is the Caledon Forest, which I believe is the Sylvari Starter zone? They can perhaps share this starter zone, or they can open out to the other unmapped areas around DoW’s general area.

I also think they are sending out their people to spread wisdom amongst the world?

Their customization would be pretty colorful, and something completely different from the other races currently in the game.

I’d throw money at the screen for these guys to become playable, I personally would love to see it happen, and if they will be playable for sure due to the hints dropped… I will be extremely happy.

As for this thread, if anyone wishes to add anything about how to implement the Tengu and Dominion of Winds into the game, feel free to add them here.

I certainly hope so. So much potential they have.

The Tengu will most likely be playable as we go after Primordus and the Kodan as we go after Jormag.

What I want to know is . . . when can I be a Skritt?

It’s SO obvious that Tengu are going to be a playable race eventually that it’s ridiculous.

They all sealed themselves off in the Sanctum of the Winds from the world by a giant wall, and the only contact the rest of Tyria has with them is through some scouts that seek cooperation from the outside races to stave off mutual threats.

To me at least, this is all an EXTREMELY obvious setup for some giant crisis that is going to force the Tengu out of their isolation, opening up their province and city to outsiders, as well as the Tengu as a playable race.

So if you really want the Tengu to be playable, eventually, I think you can rest assure that it’s an inevitability, given that ANet has basically built in the setup for this scenario.

So… I guess I should read the first post before responding :p

Anyway, I think there are so many other aspects of the game that need to be developed right now, that adding the Tengu as a race isn’t a priority.

Well yes, by all means, when they’re finished optimizing and improving the game we have right now.

Tengu should have been playable from the start instead of the norn. But I digress.. please make them playable in the first expansion! Thanks

I’d say finish it up! The Tengu just look awesome, and their story would be too.
