Since today’s patch, the player titles are shown underneath player names. But there is a bug with it… The option to turn this annoying “feature” off is not present in the options window. It also causes extreme amounts of clutter on the screen due to culling.

The option “Show all player names” is enabled yes, as I like to see the names, but the titles I do not wish to see.

See attached screenshots. Please fix this asap so I (and most likely other players as well) can just play normally.

It is already annoying enough trying to click enemy players through friendlies name plates, without yet more junk to block us :$

I like the titles under names and have no problem with it at all. Therefore they probably should add a ON/OFF “Show player titles under nameplates” option.

i think these threads are made only by those without GWAMMs. Too bad guys you quitted GW1 and went to play WoW.

This extra clutter is so annoying I can’t believe it came without an option to turn it off. Please remove it until you have an option to turn it on/off.

I’m a multi-time GWAMM and I want to get rid of the forced title display as much as anyone else. It makes WvW a nightmare.

People are too “busy” to play with the options

Not bad thing, but in WWW, its terrible. All you see is a matrix like text in a hill, comming towards you. No problem! Send your pet there and they might die in laugh.

And that did not keep the nameplate displayed while removing the title.
In fact, it didn’t remove the titles either, just made it so the plate isn’t always shown.

Ctrl and Alt will display them. I dont know how you can play with all names always displayed. I quited all MMOs that had this feature without temporary disable keys

However, your solution did not solve the problem of removing the title from the nameplates, which was kind of the point of the thread. Which is also something I’m interested in getting because it makes WvW an even bigger mess.

Can you solve then the problem with “titles being moire visible”? This has been posted more times than you can imagine in this forum. If i display a title I want other to see it. I dont want just to see it myself
it is like you would suggest that everyone’s weapons to be toggled on and off.
Than why even ware them at all? in GW1 we couldn’t see peoples weapons in towns and that was really a bad design choice

Hmm I think I miscommunicated slightly. I meant under the name displayed over the character’s head, not removing it from the targeting selection.
In GW1 you would see the displayed titles of people you selected or moused over, but you wouldn’t have the screen clogged by all the displayed titles when you held down ctrl.

It is ALT key game process mechanic not a player’s option.

Well, it was already pretty much like that before the change. The screen was fairly clear, and if you selected a person the targeting popup would show their selected title.

Sure, they need make an option to disable titles, ASAP!

Hey! Just adding my +1, would love to be able to toggle off the titles attached on the name plates. I love where it was before, on the character when you select it only.

Until then, I’m turning off my title! One less line of cluttered text taking up the beautiful game screen. I’m kind of surprised honestly. After all the effort put into making the gw2 UI as minimal as possible so you spend more time looking at the game and not at the UI, I didn’t expect this to happen.

It has nothing to do with lousy computers and everything to do with them getting in the way.

Yes, please give us an option to turn off player titles. I don’t care if someone is a Master Pumpkin Carver.

Speaking of player tags….In WvW, enemies should have shortened names. “JQ Invader” rather than “Jade Quarry Invader.” Or even an option so that we can have it only display their guild title and have their title be the color of their server. This would keep the clutter down big time.

They need to stay as is. It adds value to titles, otherwise there’s no point in caring about them.

Turn off player names if you don’t want to see them.
