Player to player trade
Why would you want player-to-player trading?
The arguments for p2p trading aren’t exactly waterproof. Some want it because they want to avoid being undercut, or because they don’t want to/can’t pay the 15% tax. Well guess what, the new trading system would have to have at least the same taxes.
Some argue that they want to give stuff to guildies for a discount, all while complaining that they do not trust this guild member. That’s a bit strange. Clearly, if you do not trust them enough, you don’t really know them that well. So why the discount?
And of course, p2p trading is absolutely ripe with scamming and profiting off the innocence of others.
Honestly, I see absolutely no reason for p2p trading. Want to avoid the taxes? So would everyone else, but the reason your gold is worth anything at all is because of those taxes. Want to aid guildies but don’t quite trust them? Well you could just send them a small amount of gold, after all you clearly care about them enough to throw away some gold, so why not give it to them? Want to scam and such? Just get out, no one likes that.

The reason for player to player trade would be if i had dusk as an example but want dawn…but some random person like you has dawn but wants dusk…then we could make that trade without anyone worrying about being scammed or having to sell a dawn for 500g then take the time to raise another 120g to buy a dusk

You can now not worry about being scammed add them to friends mail he item with the insturctions to mail the other item or gold to you afte reciving the item. This is or can be pulled up by Arena net if need be. If they scam you report them for scamming with an explanation. Your ToS and CoC specifically stats that scamming of this type will result in a perma ban. I have seen people banned for trying to scam people. 99.9% of the players know this. People like me want nothing to do with a perma ban let alone losing all our hard work and paying an additional $60 for a new game.
TL;DR?
We don’t need P2P trade, report scammers they will get banned

Actually Dawn is a good example of how to get scammed with a P2P trading system as it shares the same skin with Khrysaor, the Golden Sword. so where as you may be thinking your getting a 500+ gold item your really getting a 4 gold or less item
P2P trading = a world full of WTS/WTB spam … no thanks, I quit gw1 over anets unwillingness to ever do anything about the insane amounts of spam that was generated by buyers and sellers
No thanks. The current trading post is a far better system.
Everyone hated sitting in Kamadan for hours spamming WTS/WTB or seeing that constantly. This way you just post it and leave it and go do something more meaningful. You can also instantly see if what youre looking for is available no more waiting for hours trying to get that one item you want.

Let’s say they do get banned do you even get your item back? Also do you get the item you wished to trade for?
And actually if it were done P2P you’d be able to see name of the item your trading for so if you don’t see the word “dawn” anywhere don’t accept the trade.
As for everyone else, they could simply set it to where you can’t trade money to avoid the wtb and wts and add a section in the BLTC strictly for P2P trade. Which of course could involve some kind of fee to use…since EVERYTHING in GW2 comes with a price.

Well that’s a perfect example of scamming.
Player 2 Player trading is harmless, you see a full description of what you’re being sold you’re then also prompted to double check before the purchase goes through.
Yes this may cause some Chat in and among certain districts which I welcome… there is no communication in this game on Map chat or any other for that matter other than the words “Any Events?” and then a response with someone pinging a location.
Those that don’t want to sell in this way use the AH those that do want to spend the time benefit from not paying the 15% tax because they’ve done the work themselves.
Who here complained about spam? 2words – CHAT FILTER (Trade Channel Un-tick)
Oh and those who suggested banning currency from being traded? Ectoplasm or a similar item with a generally speaking FIXED price would just replace gold.
These two systems can be used together to benefit all players, not everyone who wants this system implemented is a scammer nor will anyone get scammed if they have common sense and read before clicking the BIG GREEN BUTTON!

Yes you do gain your item or monetary value back, I have had that issue when the game first started, twice someone scammed me. I simply reported them and a few hours later they were removed form friends list and I received a mail with the item I lost with a note saying the issue has been resolved. Although you wouldn’t receive the item you were attempting to trade for.
Player to player trading will never happen.
ArenaNet want to be able to control the flow of money between players and take some money out of the system in the process.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
I don’t want that. The original example isn’t very good. Not many people will say “Yeah, I’ll trade you my dusk for your dawn, even though mine’s worth 50g more”
Also, inflation would sore because the high price items would ignore the TP, leaving out 10s of thousands of gold a day
This is also true, the TP works on 2 premises
- Takes gold out of the market so inflation doesn’t happen
- Allows Arena Net to make a small profit in the process with out creating more gold to cover gem to gold.
Now a lot of people don’t seem to understand the second point, and that is fine. Arena Net hired actual Economist majors to over see the games economy ( most gaming companies do not do this at all ), so when you look at all the TP items and how much is sold through the TP and the % they take from each sale it adds up quickly. So I am not going to do all the math now, but it is safe to say roughly per an hour the TP brings around 500 gold out of the Economy ( not including sales of Precursors and legendary weapons. If they sold just one Legendary every 2 hours and 1 precursor every hour that would add roughly 50 gold an hour to that total. That is a low ball assumption. But if you go with that mathematical example ( which I am sure 500 is extremely low since the TP is world wide ) they recycle 125 gold out and resale 375. This is a gross under statement that is not 100% correct but the example is still solid and shows that with out having to create a ton of extra gold the economy is self sustaining.
This is the primary reason why P2P trade wont happen, at least right now. Honestly I don’t think it will ever happen.
I’m sure they won’t add it either, but I just think it would be nice to be able to trade up front and see what it is your getting instead of trading via male and HOPING to get what you want and not have to go through all the hussle an bustle of contacting support and having them retrieve the item(s) if you get screwed.
I mean if people were honest and had good intentions we could easily ignore the TP via mail.
“Oh you got 250 vicious claws and need 250 vicious fangs? Well I need 250 vicious claws.Alright lets trade.”
The point of P2P wouldn’t be to make a profit although you could if you wanted to as with any trading system. And yes there may be some “wtt” going on in chat hence why i suggested they make it a feature in BLTC.
Pretty much P2P trade would have a list like for example:
Sunspear General wtt dusk for dawn
Charr Lightbringer wtt 250 claws for 250 fangs
Yo Momma wtt 1 iron gauntlet for 1 leather glove
and then you could select the order and fulfill that order. On top of that they could even add a search feature like for example.
“input item you have here” to trade for “item you want here” and then you hit search and it would bring up a list of people who want to make that trade. And like I stated earlier if Anet wants to they can add some kind of fee for making such trades since everything else has a fee on it.
No matter how well you put it out there and no matter how many counter arguments people give you about trade spam, and this and that. The bottom line ends up being it removes the ability for a self sustaining economy. Eventually you will see prices like in world of warcraft
X weapon – 35,000 gold
Average gold per a player 120,000 if they can do all their dailies and what not 45,000 gold
That is the perfect example of over inflated economy and the gaming company throwing more money at the problem, what things just jumped in price in the AH create more gold. This is sort of starting to sound like the American government LOL, oh your broke here is 10 billion dollars we borrowed form you to give to you to bail you out, and then 5 years down the road we will pay you back 12 billion. LOL any how
Worst idea ever! Not only is this a good way to get scammed, it also spews alot of spam messages over and over. And to top that all off it also ensures that reporting the scammer is alot harder as you can’t just check the records for proof of the deed the way you can with mail.
