The only reason to build multiple rams in the jump puzzles is to deliberately waste supply and create grief. While one could argue that this falls under the auspices of insurgent or infiltrant strategy, I posit that it is simply poor form and not in keeping with the spirit of good conduct.

Please remove this incentives for bad behavior… or provide us with the ability to counter or negate the abuse… or give a full-throated endorsement so we may all engage in this sort of behavior with abandon.

Of course, if you added actual WvW objectives with gates, claimables, and supply IN the jump puzzles then all this would be moot — then jump puzzles would become meaningful and actionable (and something truly strategic). Go figure…

They should just disable combat in that area. Of-course if they did that, I am sure it would be exploited some how (would be a great meeting area).

Sryy if that cant be obliged , but im prettty positive it was set there to have greifing an pvp specifically , set in stone mind you , its a part of the game mechanics , it is after all a pvp zone , and that how it will remain as should be ,. when your server can make claim in that specific area than , have fun an enjoy it , was meant to be fought for , havea nice day

I have no problem with the JP being a PvP area or with siege being used to defend it. I do have a problem with rams (that serve no purpose in the jumping puzzle) being used by drunks, tantrum children, and cross-server spies to deliberately sabotage server success by draining supplies.

This is not speculation or hyperbole, the bad actors have become bold and numerous enough to begin recruiting support in the chat channels.

There is no counter (you can not block or stop) abusive behavior taking place by players on your own server. The only recourse is to put the players on ignore — to walk away — to quit. I don’t wish this on my enemy… it is anti-competitive.

  • If commanders had the ability to lock/limit supply camps (even if it meant commanders could override each other or requiring two to override), the dynamic would be different… but that ability does not exist.
  • If deployed siege could be deconstructed/salvaged (creating an entirely new money sink for salvage kits) for supply, the dynamic would be different.
  • If guild claimers had the ability to lock/limit supply usage, the dynamic would be different… but that ability does not exist.
  • If we had FULL ON PvP that included friendly fire, that would be another story, but we do not (and probably never will).

I’m all about the real fight… let’s get the fight on. But if the fight is about who has the least number of bad actors on their server, I’m not sure that is a measure of anyone’s skill and I’m not sure that’s a fight worth bragging about.

Guys, read the OP. It’s not whining about the JP. It’s about people who waste siege cap and grief their server by making rams (which are 100%, completely and utterly meaningless in the JP) there.

I think the OP is referring specificaly to Rams and not Siege equipment. He specifically points to the fact that people building rams in the EB jump puzzle is simpley done to waste supplies. Short of building a gauntlet of fire to run through, I see no value in rams in the EB jump puzzle myself.

The rest should remain as is.

Why not simply remove the ability to deploy any siege at all (just like you can’t deploy siege in the starter areas of the WvW maps)? I mean, you already have traps in the EB puzzle…

I agree, on my world they camp 24/7 the zoo room with arrow carts, catas and balistas. There is no way we can counter this in any way. Its just bad desing. Remove sieges from puzzle area!!!

Ending free server transfers would fix this almost instantly

1) Charge $25.00 for each transfer.
2) After a server transfer, you can not enter World PVP for 2 weeks.
3) You cannot transfer servers again until after a month.
4) If they don’t like it, then tough luck. Read instructions better. It’s been over two months, and people have had plenty of time to choose a server freely.

With no easy way to transfer servers… bad players will be forced to deal with their consequences on a social and game play level. It will still exist, but not as much. And at least ANET will get some money out of it.

ANET can easily make it so you can not place siege items on treasure chests; or clickable player objectives. So it needs to be done. I once seen a team of players place multiple siege on top of a treasure chest, thinking they were protecting it. The problem was, no one could even click or interact with the treasure chest because it would interact with the multiple empty siege instead. I finally had to tell them to hold down the (ALT) key to highlight all the items, then carefully cycle through the items till the chest was selected. It was a touch of frustration that shouldn’t exist.

This, I don’t care what you may think but bads just camping people in the JP is not very fun.
