Currently, thousands of players per hour are “hearthing” (pardon the WoW expression, but it fits) to Lion’s Arch from anywhere via a back-door two-step process that is both cumbersome to use and resource-intensive on the server side: we open our WvW pane and go to any one of the four WvW areas, then jump through the Asura gate there to land in Lion’s Arch.

In addition to requiring three loading screens (the one into the WvW area is, if you watch closely, two consecutive loading screens), this process unnecessarily loads up the WvW servers with “transient” players and contributes to queues and congestion.

What we need is an ability that does not take up any skill slot or bag slot to “hearth” directly to LA from anywhere, thereby eliminating all the WvW server hits for non-WvW purposes.

Go to the PvP lobby instead. Same tactic, doesn’t take up WvW slots.

Don’t you often have to queue up for wvw areas?

I think pretty much everyone travels through the Mists to get to LA. But I do agree that an instant free travel option to LA would eliminate the extra load screen. And I would welcome that a lot.

Because they cost! Using other routes is free. Saying use PvP is fine, but doesn’t control behaviour of others.

I agree – free WP to LA from anywhere or, alternatively, disable/charge to use LA Asura gate in WvW if you use within, say, 5 mins of arriving in WvW

If I had to count how much money I’d spend everyday WP’ing my way to LA it would be close to 1g so I’d prefer loading 2 times.

If they at least made the teleport to LA free it would a better story.

I agree that Waypoint to LA should be free. Maybe consider other cities as well too?

Just add a way to set a home waypoint in any city. a place you could teleport for free no matter where you are. That way you could pick your favorite hub without feeling like LA is the necessary choice.

Because waypointing costs SOOOOOO much. I like the part where you can get to LA completely for free. But OH NO, you have to go through ANOTHER loading screen.

It can be fixed by doing two things:
- waypoints to all cities are free
- waypoint costs are based on nearest city

Because eg you can save 2 silver by porting Mists > LA > Grove > Wurm instead of Maw > Wurm.

If they ever establish Guild Halls and/or Housing in the game you probably will get a Poof to that instead. Which I am looking forward to. Guild Halls will replace a lot of need to always go to LA and or major cities, when i was done with something in gw1 I always went to my guild hall.

Are people really that hard up for 2-3s? I just WP over there and get it done

I still like the slightly different suggestion that waypointing to your home city should be completely free from anywhere in the world. At least it would give some added life to those cities.

But yeah, I’ve been saying since release that waypointing to LA should be free.

I wish they’d add Mystic Forge and/or Dungeon Token salesman to the other major cities as well. I prefer Divinity’s Reach over Lions Arch anytime. But you’re forced to go there for so much things, now even more with having 2 dungeons there. Not to mention the loading screen to LA takes about 10 times longer than any other place I go to. Yea the latter has to do with my PC as well I guess, but I so miss the loading times of GW1 lol

Oh, and sorry for going a bit off-topic. An instant port would be nice for the people that take up spots in WvW and cause additional traffic I guess. But I’m pretty sure most people would use the Heart of the Mists anyway :P
