I’d like to note that I decided to give this its own thread because the old thread with previous about this topic was about disliking the extended camera zoom option. To the contrary, this is about love and longing for the return of the extended camera zoom option.
One of the only things I’m disappointed in with GW2 is the limitations on Camera Zoom. Indeed, during most combat, it is perfect. However, there are many extremely large scale and lovely epic battles where I can’t really tell what’s going on. Sometimes you just see a mass cluster of character animations and colour effects that restrict my attempts to participate to the best of my ability, or I can’t fully enjoy these great battles visually, because the camera is so close to all the action. Additionally, there are some truly wonderful landscapes, some of the best environments in a video game, in my opinion, and sometimes when you’re running around with friends you wish you could better view and indulge in this wonderful scenery.
During Halloween, the camera zoom was extended and I found myself completely elated. This was absolutely wonderful and I couldn’t stop sharing my excitement with guildmates. I could see during full-scale battles better and it was so much easier to enjoy the visuals of a gorgeous environment.
To my great misfortune, after the Halloween event the camera zoom returned to normal, and I was rather heartbroken; I have felt completely restricted since.
I know some people complain that the zoom is unnecessarily far, but I would like to offer the suggestion that there be a box in the Options Menu where users can choose whether or not to enable the Extended Camera view. This way, people who want that close limit for combat can keep themselves restricted while those who would like to enjoy a far more vast landscape can choose to enable this option.
I know it may be of little importance to some players, but nothing would make my already terrific GW2 experience better than this.
I even signed up on these threads only to show my appreciation for this when it was enabled.
