I understand why you would want a waypoint travel cost for the money sink aspect, but this has become a tax for players who want to help others. I’ve seen players offering to pay waypoint cost in my guild to get some help. It’s awkward, no one wants to accept money but we don’t want to pay either.

I wish there was an item I could buy in gem store that would cover all waypoint travel cost for 30 days. If you offered an item at a reasonable price (idk say around 1200 gems) you would probably get a lot of takers. If I had this I wouldn’t think twice about hoping over and helping someone in need.

well i dont understand why it costs to travel it didnt in GW1 and ppl in that had over 2mil plat i kno i did lol so in a game were ppl were running about with alts in FoW armor and no money sink on travel

and there seems to be very little money in gw2 as it is lvl 80 DE events reward u a massive 1silver and a 23 copper, iv no ideas what dungeons rewards if any

if it costs u 3silver 80 coppers to get to say the place were arah is then u need to do 3 DE just to break even and atm there isnt alot of working DE in the end game area

for a game wanting to be different it seems to place the same ideas in other games here
travel costs tho partly instanced maps
repair costs
respec costs

dont seem all that differnt to me

Way point cost is NOT a money sink, it is a mechanic that promote people to travel around the world and do random dynamic events and meet other people.

Making way points free, and you will have a dead open world like wow in a matter of weeks!

Stop arguing waypoint cost is a gold sink, it is more than that.

Also, the gw1 argument is invalid. Gw1 is an instanced game like diablo 2. The way point cost is no different than chapter selection in d2 or 3.

Gw2 is a true mmo with a persisstant world.

sorry spending 4 silver to travel were the action is would make more ppl use it… than it being free yeah i see that

and travel costs is nothing more than a gold sink, how is it more than that ?

ppl can join you in d2 last time i played, thats beside the point comparing gw1 to gw2 is very valid as it uses the same backbone. wait in d3 chapter selecting is free

as for dead open world for the most part when im lvling i dont see alot of ppl now compared to when it came out i dont think travel costs being free will hurt

Hint: These two facts are related.

Also it doesn’t take three dynamic events to make up the waypoint cost—a single green drop will cover it. People really underestimate what they get from selling drops. When I went around and finished all the low level areas I needed for my map completion, I did very few events and came out 5-10 gold ahead.

Really, if you expect to do anything at all where you’re going, waypoint cost should not be an issue. Yes, it stops people from porting to every zone to shout for dungeon/trades/etc… I consider that a bonus.
