The removal of culling theoretically sounds like a great thing, who doesn’t want to see how many players they’re fighting alongside in these big events? It gives a sense of scale to these battles.
But, there’s a big problem with this in reality, and my entire Guild has been experiencing the worst of it. We know for a fact we are not the only players with these issues, either.
Among my Guild we have a variety of PC’s; High-end gaming PCs, Mid-end gaming PCs, Standard run of the mill PCs. We all have a variety of settings we all use to run the game at our best personal performances. But, ever since culling was removed it’s created several issues I’d like to address.
-High-end gaming PCs getting hot, even on LOWEST settings available
-High-end gaming PCs are having frame rate issues during events, and again, on lowest settings.
-Mid-end gaming PCs are exhibiting the same problems as the high ends but to slightly more intense degrees
-Culling is occurring with enemies during these events, as opposed to players
-Low-end PCs are experiencing frame rate drops of 5 FPS during large scale events
-Low-end PCs are having serious lag issues in congested areas, such as Lions Arch
-Low-end PCs are putting off a lot of heat
When individuals with PCs priced at $800, $1,300, or even more are having these issues this is not good.
If you can afford a PC that can deal with all this flawlessly, good for you! But, let’s take a look at the casuals here, those who can’t afford a souped up $1,000+ PC, they have been screwed over with this update.
