Create an option to DISABLE the friggin ‘Compact’ option in the inventory dropdown …

Who on earth uses it, anyway? And meanwhile it sits there waiting to ambush you and your neatly organised pack and ruin your next 10 minutes trying to reorganise everything again.

I use it all the time and I would even like to have it automatically executed after I select “deposit collectibles” because of its usefullness. However, it is too small a feature to request.
More choices are always welcome, though.

I understand. I just want to point out the he doesn’t want the feature removed; he just wants an option to disable it.

I use it all the time. Like every single time I disengage combat.

I use different types of bags to organize my stuff:

• Starter Bag with stuff like foods, WvW blueprints, BL stuff, Salvage kits
• Invisible Bag with all of my alternative gear
• Armor Bag for all the armor I’ll get when grinding
• Craftsman’s Bag for all the crafting mats
• Regular bag for leftovers that don’t fit elsewhere

I will probably eventually change the extra regular bag to an Oiled Bag so that all the useless scrap goes there.

Admittedly, if I didn’t use different types of bags or the Show Bags, I’d think the Compact sucks.

But yes, the Compact option does not touch anything in an Invisible Bag, so if I had lots of stuff that I had manually organized, I’d use those.

Interesting to hear from people who do use it.

But I manually organise my stuff, got a system that works for me. Sometimes, by mistake, I hit the ‘compact’ button instead of ‘deposit …’ , and oh the pain as I see all my carefully arranged stuff squished into one blob of confusion

Anyway, always good to know that a feature you hate other people love; I might even see how it could, maybe, work for me … but my OCD says prolly not.

And yeah, don’t want it removed, just would like to turn it off to avoid being the victim of my own incompetence.

I know I am reviving an old topic, but I must agree with TwoGhost. It’s a nice option to have for people who like it, but it would be nice if you could disable it for ppl who don’t. I sometimes click on it by accident as well ruining my inventory structure. Seems like something that can be easily implemented.

Just don’t click things you don’t want to click. You could also try using the auto-sorting bags – this is literally what they were made for.

I’d say that if they do anything, it should be to replace the drop-down with a horizontal row of graphical icons. There aren’t enough options to warrant having a drop-down in the first place.
