Please reinvigorate home cities
I really love Divinity’s reach, its so much more immersive than LA, where the focal point is a boring forge. It really comes alive with more people running around.
Great suggestion, such a wonderfully crafted environment shouldn’t go to waste.
Sadly, every city is pretty much wasted. Lion Arch is where the action is.
It would be nice if the cities had all the services of Lions Arch but the added bonus of being shared across 3 servers to keep the numbers high, crank up the player capacity and extend WvW style culling options to include the capitals.
Instead of 3 TP or banking NPC’s in one place with dozens of people stacked on top of each other enable all merchants in the capitals to have links to the TP. This spreads things out a bit and allows you to see and experience the hustle and bustle of a capital.
I liked seeing the buzz the cities had back during launch and I think the feel of the game would benefit greatly if you had more viable options to visit and hangout in between missions.
I like Divinity’s Reach, it has awesome architecture, one like in Medieval. I don’t want it to go to waste, i like it more than any other capital, Sylvari one is a tree, charr one is junk, asura one is one i like the most after human city, and finally norn one is just a pub and actually its quite awesome, anyway I think capitals should get more attention or should always be overflows.
They should make the capitals more like Lion’s Arch in some way. They should change appearance during certain events and there should be stuff going on there that gradually changes the look of the cities. It would make them much more interesting to walk through.
I’d personally also like to see a broader use of city service areas (Trading Posts, Crafting Areas, Bank, etc). Sure, it’s always cool going to the crafting districts, but more times than not I don’t want to stay there. I for one enjoy hanging out in different areas of cities, but what’s the point when these other areas offer absolutely no incentive or utility? This also applies to smaller towns and outposts. Some places like Claypool do offer some of the same utility that cities do and I find that to be brilliant. Unfortunately outposts such as Claypool are too few and far between.
maybe in a future expansion your main city will change to be DR like i was imagining that the sea dragon will be directly above DR
The should keep SAB in rata sum, and add attractions in other cities to get people into them also.
SAB has been hugely sucessful, so why they are removing it after a month is beyond me, it fits the asura theme perfectly, and should be permenant.
LA was designed as the hub city, which is evident in having portals to every other main city, portals to the WvW maps and the inactive portals for future expansions. The fact that fractals are only accessible from LA just compounds this problem, as well as players getting funneled back into Lion’s Arch via both WvW and sPvP, which anyone can access from anywhere. Anyone that wants a free port to a bank or TP will just use these.
Few possible options are
a) Put portals to every main city in Heart of The Mists, and not just Lion’s Arch, while possibly redirecting WvW leavers to HoTM.
b) Add in a heartstone-eqsue feature where you choose a main city, and any portal that currently sends you to LA, will instead send you to your chosen home city.
c) Place attractions in each city to encourage players to visit the cities. SAB is a great example, but something like placing copies of the WvW vendors in say Black Citadel may suffice.
