Prices on legendary mats
You are doing the easy part still … grinding for mats. That part you actually have some control over. I have ALL my gifts done ankittenrying to keep pace with the inflation on Dusk (precursor for Twilight) … at my current pace I will never be able to finish it.
They need to put in an NPC selling the precursors for a fixed rate. I already started a thread on this and then they moved it here to dead thread zone.
my main problem i have with legendaries and ALL mystic forge high end weapons is not that it cost tones to make but the fact that gw2 has ZERO farming spots. In gw1 u wanted obi armor? You could spam fow/uw all day without getting ******** DR and not only you’re making tones of money, its also FUN. Why gw2 doesn’t have a zone (or dungeon) that is challenging but possible to solo slowly and drops every single kind of t6 mat, lodestones and most importantly ectos. Why there’s no places where i could just go, listen to music and farm solo or with ppl??? And i’m not talking about bs such as farming sparks for charged lodestones btw… not here to spend 2h for one lodestone. I want it to be challenging but drop rate is much higher for everything from t6 mats, rares and exotics. kitten i want UW/FOW back!!!!!! no stupid fractals with its bs DR. If there was such a dungeon, i would actually bother with legendaries but as of now no way i’m grinding a certain enemy for one lodestone per 1+ hour, bull****.
why would you ever want the prices lowered? you have something to work towards. and it isnt mandatory to get a legendary. plus others have already obtained a legendary so it isnt impossible. whats left to get after a legendary? another legendary? would you really want to be decked out so soon after the games launch? its unlikely anet will add another teir so legendarys are the end all be all for equipment. and should be stupidly hard to get. exotic gear is fine for anyone so just stick with that if youre looking for functionality. if you want to show off…. youre going to have to pay the price and just like high maintenance trophy women, its not going to be cheap.
Let me guess poe you already have one or are close to having one. It should be about gameplay, achieveing things that are hard, not money or mindless grinding.
I’m not saying make it easier, im saying make it less about money. Maybe requite a gift from every dungeon instead of part of some of the cash per say. Maybe an achievement for doing all the jumping puzzles, or one for how many kills you get in wvw, and a gift for finish the storyline. Lots of options to replace cash with.
If it were not about having lots of money (and everything else) EVERYONE would have one.

I think legendaries should be an extremely hard, epicly long quest series that is also material consuming. That way it would actually represent an impressive accomplishment and skill, while still acting as a gold sink (although not as much as it is now, since precursors would preferably be earned instead of RNG).
Unfortunately, that would require a lot of work and content, so I doubt it would happen.

I agree with that fact that the game is no longer about skill, but about how many hours you put into it. I’m a student and a mom…me….a legendary weapon….ha ha ha ha ha…maybe in 10 years. I don’t have the time to put into obtaining all the needed items and it’s sad that it has to be that way. I would rather have them as a reward for completing something challenging or as a random drop instead of hours upon hours on the computer….just my opinion.
The gift of mastery alone would insure everyone doesnt have one. Make it harder idc. but less about money.
